Forsaken: Song Lyrics and Theology

Ryan Scott's Avatar So, I attended an Holy Thursday service this evening. They sang "Amazing Love," a song I really like. There is a line, however, I'd never really thought about before that I spent some time thinking about tonight given the time of year.

"I'm forgiven, because you were forsaken." Do we like this theologically?

I know Jesus cried out "Why have you forsaken me," but a cry of agony is far from some sort of descriptive truth.

Todd Erickson's Avatar As we move into interesting new financial straits, it's becoming evident that increasingly, churches below a population of 100 regular adult members, outside of unusual financial standings, may not be able to afford to pay a full time pastor a living wage.

This will likely lead to an increase of bivocational pastors (functionally, culture aside) even though the general culture for white evangelical cultures has been to have the pastor work only as a pastor, for the most part.
