Please join me in praying for the family of Lucille Greer Baldridge, including NazNetter, Ann Baldridge. One of her friends sent me this obituary:

Lucille Greer Baldridge died at her home at 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 28. Visitation will be held at Staab Funeral Home, at 1109 S. Fifth, Springfield, IL, Friday, March 2, from 5-7 p.m. Services will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, 5200 S. Sixth Street Road, Springfield, IL, on Saturday, March 3, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour before the service.

Lucille was born in Olivet, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas S. Greer and Carrie Pendleton Greer. She was the youngest of four children. Siblings, all deceased, are: Dr. Earl Greer, Esther Greer Hesler, and Olive M. Greer.

Lucille attended common schools of Olivet, Illinois. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Olivet Nazarene College, and a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University. She taught mathematics and English at Manteno High School, Manteno, Illinois, prior to coming to Decatur, IL, where she taught elementary education for Decatur Schools District #61. She attended Millikin University in Decatur, IL, where she studied and mastered the pipe organ, and learned to play several musical instruments, particularly horns. Lucille later taught for Springfield Public Schools District #186, Ursuline Academy, and tutored students in Calculus. She was a member of the Decatur Women’s Club, Decatur Education Association, Illinois Education Association, and National Education Association.

Lucille, husband, Dale, and daughter, Anne, were members of Westside Church of the Nazarene, Decatur, IL, where she served faithfully as church pianist. She also served as campground pianist and pianist for Laymen’s Retreat at Nazarene Acres, Mechanicsburg, IL. In 1960, the Baldridges moved to Springfield, and joined Springfield First Church of the Nazarene, where she served as church pianist for many years.

She leaves her husband of 53 years, Dale, and daughter, Anne, of Springfield. A son, Martin Richard, preceded her in death as an infant. She leaves several nieces and nephews, and three sister-in-laws: Juanita (Everett) Baldridge, Florence (Clarence) Banning, and Beverly (Paul) Baldridge Halsema.

Thanks to you all for your prayers for my family. We are getting ready to go to the visitation now. Our biggest prayer is that people will come to accept Jesus as their Savior tomorrow at the funeral. The sermon will be "Come to Jesus." We are having an exciting celebration tomorrow, with Mom actually playing piano at her own funeral! I taped her in 1994, and tomorrow she will be playing the Alma Mater (ONU), Make Me a Blessing, and How Great Thou Art. We are expecting great things for His glory.

When Danny, my hubby, died, this sort of thing took place, as well ... he preached at his own funeral.

Thanks so much for sharing. Her being a sister to Earl Greer makes her all the more special to me. He was my major professor at BNC(SNU) and provided me with the desire to pursue the field of mathematics. He usually taught 18 hours per semester which was a humongous undertaking. He was a prince among men.

Blessings on the Baldridge family.
