Today Lindsey & I spent 4 hours at Dillards. It is time for the annual Ensemble concert at the University of Arizona. This will be Lindsey's 5th year participating, and so it was time to shop for a formal gown for the occasion. The sales associates at Dillards threatened to put us on the payroll-- LOL They were SOOO helpful. I took my camera so I could take pictures of our favorites -- but I'm not going to post those here -- you'll have to wait for the official Ensemble photograph!!
It was one of those really neat days that you have with your children. We had so much fun together. We have one more day of this -- we still have to buy shoes and jewelry to go with the dress......we were both too tired to think about those today!!!
This might give you a hint, though -- and I wanted to show you a picture of our 15-year-old twins. Lindsey I and Lindsey II (we aren't real creative when it comes to naming our children, I suppose).......

Great picture. I never thought of taking a camera shopping with me. I'll have to remember that. Is the ensemble voice or instrumental? What instrument?

Hmmmm.... I think I like the twin on the left better. Maybe I'm biased, even though they are both beautiful..... kinda like their mom.
BTW... If you are choosing a gown from those in the pic, I'm betting on the pink/red color range. I wonder why!

Joanne -- It is a piano ensemble. There are 12 concert grand pianos on the stage, and 12, 24 or 36 students play them, with a conductor. It is about a 2-hour concert, and the children range from about 8 up to seniors in high school. This will be Lindsey's first year at her own piano, so there are only 12 students playing the same piece that she is; it is a Scott Joplin piece this year. There are about 300 students who participate in this ensemble every year. It is a by-invitation-only ensemble offered by the members of Tucson Piano Teachers' Association, and each teacher is only allowed to ask about 4-6 of his/her students. The students start learning their pieces in about October or so, and rehearsals start in early February. About 2500 people attend. It's really a lot of fun!
(There's a video on my photo web site that shows Lindsey's first rehearsal with her partner this year -- I filmed them in the rehearsal studio a few weeks ago -- www.danagrant.phanfare.com (http://www.danagrant.phanfare.com) )

She's working on Rachmaninoff's Variation on a theme from Paganini right now. My favorite piece of all time -- I'm going to enjoy this process!!

When Yvonne mentioned a second video I went back to check it out . Was sure glad I did . Both were great but I especially thought she had chosen a really neat page turner for the Christmas one . Hope you will make a video of her current piece when she gets it together . Looking forward to more .
Thanks for sharing .

She would look like a runway model in a gunny sack. She is so beautiful and her complexion is awesome. I too thought she look good in the picture in the mirror. What a great shot. Can't wait for the official photo.

Well, I can't post the picture until the concert night, when she has her hair all done and everything...you know, so you can get the full effect and all!!!!.....but here's her shoes, does that help?

Cool! 'Love strappy shoes ... the more straps, the better ... these reminded me of some from years ago, that had even skinnier/more straps. ;)

Your girls are both very pretty!
Oh I like that piece as well. Hope she has a fun time playing, as it is an honor .. but when the fun stays in music it becomes a hobby for life.
Can't wait to hear how it goes!
