MY youngest daughter and her husband pastor a church in the mid-west. He is also a Civil Engineer. He graduated from the Citadal and had plans for becoming an astronaut. He was well on his way to completing the requirements for that and God called him into the ministry. My daughter and Scott met at NTS where she was majoring in Missions with an emphasis in urban missions. He got an M.Div.
Anyway, he has applied to become a Navy Chaplain and wants to be stationed with the Marines. He has passed all the requirements well so far and is not scheduled to meet in DC the head Chaplain for the US Navy. If he is approved there he request for commission goes before the Sec. of Defense for approval. If that all happens as we expect it will, he will be going to Rhode Island for officer's basic and Chaplain's training, then on to his first duty station. While is gone that 3 months, our daughter will be living with us.
Scott has worked hard at the getting ready. He dropped a good percentage in his BMI index, dropped his wt., runs 5 miles a day plus other exercises, etc.
A Chaplain's wife can be as involved or as univolved in her spouse's ministry as she wants. Meghan will want to be involved. She has a call to ministry in support of Scott and will continue to be a positive support to him.
I am proud of my two daughters and their preacher husbands. They are all doing well in ministry. What is a blessing to me is to hear my two daughters talk about good memories and joys and blessings having been raised in a parsonage. Our two granddaughters are having the same positive experience.
I am deeply thankful to God for my daughters, their husbands, our two granddaughters and the lives they live. They are mine and Virginia's greatest joy.
