It's my understanding that many years ago when the John Deere Company first
established how to equip their farm tractors with lights their sales slogan
was, "We plow deep, while you sleep." Until then the farmers and their hired
help, obviously, had to discontinue tilling the soil once the sun set on the
western horizon.
I am convinced that some of the deeper things of God are not learned in the
"sunshine" times of life, when everything is "hunkey-dorey." No, it takes a
time of testing and trial and even darkness - the darkest of days, perhaps -
to learn some of life's greatest lessons, including a complete trust in Him
who never makes a mistake.
Remember how Hannah, of the Old Testament, rejoiced upon the announcement
that the Lord had heard her prayers and Samuel was on his way? Sure! It's
easy to praise - and we should - when prayers have been answered.
But how about those times when the heavens are like "brass"? And God is
seemingly silent? The question during those difficult times should be, do we
trust Him then? Regardless of what life may bring our way?
Maybe during those times we need to just be still.
Be still and know that I am God
Be still and know that I am God
Be still and know that I am God.
I am the Lord that healeth thee
I am the Lord that healeth thee
I am the Lord that healeth thee
In Thee, O Lord, I put my trust
In Thee, O Lord, I put my trust
In Thee, O Lord, I put my trust
