I am unable to find who recommended AVG Anti Virus Free to us. But I need to contact that person and find out about renewing this. I am not covered now.
Or does one now retain and pay for their protection.
I had Norton before this. I need advice and quick. THANKS.!!

I don't know if you can upgrade AVG Free Anti Virus now or not, Marg? You can click on the link on this page below and try it.
Somehow, McAfee has given me their software for free after it ran out. I don't know if the reason is that AVG is a competitor or not...(maybe it is coming up on a search and people are getting AVG confused with McAfee?)
Here is the link below for AVG...read the first paragraph...those on NazNet reminded others that you needed the newer version about 2 months ago.
You couldn't have seen that post?

I wasn't the one who recommended it but my daughter's boyfriend recommended it to us and we use it on all our machines. There is still a free version of their latest. I did have a little bit of trouble getting it loaded but was able to muddle through on the second try.
Good luck

Marg, I posted the question about the free AVG program. What you need to do is upgrade from the AVG 7.1 program to the AVG 7.5 program. I did that and it is working fine on my computer.
AVG 7.1 Free Users!
As of February 18th, 2007, AVG 7.1 Free Edition is no longer supported. If you are still using AVG 7.1 Free Edition, please take action now to remain safe by downloading the new AVG 7.5 Free Edition. Do not leave your self unprotected.
Click on the link that Bob posted in this thread.

HELLO!! all of you that wrote.
Would you believe just yesterday, Mar.12. I finally was able to break the repeat message " you must now join the pay for version of AVG Anti Virus."
I was successful and have it again. Perseverance does win. Guess I will fill my gas tank with that fifty dollars.:)
