Terrible bus crash

near Atlanta, Ga. it was a baseball team from Bluffton, Ohio who was traveling to Fort Myers Fl to play a pre season game. The bus went off an overpass and crashed on the road below. 6 are dead, several on life support, and the coach is in surgery. What an awful tragedy. They had their best season in 19 years. It is a Mennonite University, my niece had a best friend that went there.

When I saw the diagram of the accident scene, I theorized that the bus driver was either asleep or not very alert...took the off ramp as if it were just another overpass, and smashed through the 'T' intersection at the top of the ramp.

The driver may have been sleepy, but bad highway design definitely made things worse.


Edit: I read the news today that the driver was 'fresh' so probably was not asleep at the wheel. The absence of skid marks at the accident scene suggests however that the driver did not attempt to stop at the stop sign.

Oh well... If the NTSB could retrieve and reconstruct the submerged wreckage of TWA flight 800 and identify the cause of the explosion, they'll figure out a mere bus accident.
