The Bridge To Terabithia was boring for me. My 7 yr. old daughter loved it. I think it is a chick flick of sorts.

The whole story line is based on a boy/girl relationship, as well as the parents relationship with their 4 kids during hard times on the family farm. I liked that part. It was very well portrayed.

The whole Terabithia thing was poorly done. I can understand the imaginations of the two kids but much more could have been done. All through the movie you were waiting for more of the fantasy stuff to happen, it didn't materialize. I was left in dismay...disappointed.

And the ending! WOW! Like I started to cry... I don't know what ever possessed the writer/creator to do that! It was so out of place and shocking!
Two weeks later I am still saddened by the ending!

If you like a chick flick, see it. If your going to see another mythical thyme, stay home or go on cheapy Tuesday nights. It might be worth the $4.25

To rate it out of 5 stars I would give it a 3

Mark, have you read the book? It is very sad. Most of that author's work is sad. I knew I would not like it much since the commercials showed the "wonder" part. THat leaves audiences dismayed as you said.
Thanks.

Meghan and I watched this last night. We'd both read the book in school growing up, and it was one of a few books that we read together over our honeymoon.

If you haven't read the book, it might be difficult to judge the movie between the two.

And actually, I disagree with you, Mark, I think the fantasy aspects of it were actually done just right. Seeing the previews, I was worried that they overdid the fantasy (because it seemed like that was all they showed), but after seeing the movie, I think it was just about right.

The ending continues to haunt me, because stuff like this happens.

There were some good themes worthy of discussion - perhaps even in children's Sunday School. The continued conversation about God, death, and heaven was as well done as I might expect from Disney.

No, I have not read the book. I was probly disappointed by the previews. I assumed it would be much like the fantasy of Narnia. And not reading the book and knowing how the author writes probly contributed as well to my disappointment. My expectations ruined the experience.

I haven't read the book or seen the movie, but I appreciated the review here (http://www.chuckp3.com/2007/03/bridge-to-terabithia.php), from an occasional NazNet poster.

I had never read the book or heard of it, but my wife and daughter had. I actually was moved by the film and enjoyed the mix between fantasy and reality. I think if it had been done anymore, it would have be a "sci-fi" movie and I think that would have taken away from the interaction of the family and the boy and the boy with his friend and the schoolmates.

Maybe I am getting softer in my old age too.......but I admit I enjoy movies with older kids in them. The interaction is always good. Stand by me has always been one of my favorite movies.

Blessings and thanks for the reviews!
