Love is the most overused word in the english language. Most people these days have a very skewed idea of what love is.

In our culture we exalt it without really ever defining it. As Christians we should be able to define the actions of love. oh and yes, of course we should be able to live it, but we also need to articulate it as well.

So I propose we all define some aspect of the enigmatic word Love.

I'll start. Just don't get too wordy since we know we have alot of material to work with. :rolleyes:

The LORD loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of his unfailing love. Psalm 33:5

"Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him." John 14:21

and this great one:

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:12-13

Husbands are told to love their wives as Christ loved the church. My husband seems to try to come near to that admonition. He thinks of me ahead of himself.

Yes! Seeking one's well being, even at your own expense. I would say, that is love. And like you, I'm thankful for a spouse who does just that and has been teaching me to do the same. After 25 years of marriage, I'm finally getting the hang of it.
