In recent years, Dottie Rambo has received many well-deserved accolades and
honors for her song writing. However, she hasn't always been in the public
eye and her best writing was during the 60s, 70s, and early 80s. In those
days, she and her husband, Buck, and another young woman made up The Dottie
Rambo Trio. They were singing in a tent revival in Ohio when God inspired
today's song.
Just as an aside, Dottie was born in Madisonville, Kentucky, where Howard
and Vestal Goodman pastored a church for many years. At age 11, she wrote a
song that was first sung by the Happy Goodman Family and recorded by
Governor Jimmie Davis of Louisiana.
In 1981 Dottie and the young lady of her trio left their motel to drive to
the revival. As she drove, Dottie saw the most beautiful sunset and cloud
formations she had ever witnessed. She was fascinated by the vivid colors
and images. Then the clouds parted and a straight passageway opened up.
She began weeping so much that she had to pull over and let the young woman
drive. God began giving her a song that had to be written on her heart
because she had no pen and paper She sang it for her companion who began
weeping so hard she also had to pull over.
Once they arrived at the tent she played the entire song on her guitar.
Every phrase was exactly as it should be with no changes. Sandi Patti
recorded it and was named Vocalist of the Year in 1981. Dottie received
Dove Awards as Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year with . . .
The sky shall unfold, preparing His entrance;
The stars shall applaud Him with thunders of praise.
The sweet light in His eyes shall enhance those a waiting,
And we shall behold Him then face to face.
Refrain:
We shall behold Him, we shall behold Him
Face to face in all of His glory;
And we shall behold Him, Yes, we shall behold Him
Face to face, our Savior and Lord.
The angels shall sound the shout of His coming,
The sleeping shall rise from their slumbering place.
And those who remain shall be changed in a moment,
And we shall behold Him then face to face.
