Ok, maybe not only in Wisconsin, but two days ago I was in my backyard in shorts as the mercury got close to 80 (77 actually) working on getting my garden ready for Spring. Yesterday I was standing on a sheet of ice ten inches thick pulling fish our of small holes dug by an auger.

My friend and I landed like 50 fish (we didn't keep 'em all though).

But were you still wearing your shorts? I mean, ice can last a looooong time in warm weather!

Over 80F yesterday in Southern Ohio and supposed to be in the 40's in a few days. It's just March and that's how it is. :)

In Tennessee its called Dogwood winter. See the picture I posted in the photo section of the dogwood in our yard.

80's here yesterday -- today pouring down rain and cool.

Ah but Wisconsin is God's country like the old beer commercial used to say. Heaven is a local call from there. You can have the Iowa corn fields, I love those hills in southern Wisconsin, the forests and marshes of central Wisconsin and the lakes full of fish in northern Wisconsin.

Please pass the cheese, Joel :fav18

I wasn't sure what I'd think of this state but I have to say that it really is a great place. I wish the winters were shorter but other than that it's just plain wonderful here. Northern Wisconsin really is something for sure.

Where do you live in Wisconsin? I live in Iowa now but my roots are in Wisconsin. My dad's family is mostly from around Marshfield in the middle of the state. My mom's family is mostly from Richland Center and Viola in the southern part of the state. We lived in Beaver Dam, Spooner and Boscobel before we moved to Iowa when I was in the 6th grade. Spooner is pretty far north and has excellent fishing. I was in the 1st grade and learned how to fish there. Dad did a lot of ice fishing there but I never have.

I am in Wausau (which I'm sure you know is fairly close to Marshfield). The Wausau area is really nice.

I haven't been to Spooner yet, but the pastor there has invited me up to fish, so one of these days I'm sure I'll get that way. Yesterday I was up in Minocqua which is where some consider "Up North" to begin. Really I think Wausau is the start of "Up North" as we are sort of right on the Southern border of the Northwoods.

One of the things I find amazing about this state is how hard it's been for the COTN to make much of a dent here. There are only 36 churches in the entire state with only 3 of them running over 100 and none of them running over 200.

I warned you the other day that a cold front was coming your way.

say hi to Pastor Dave for me when you do, Kevin ;)

I grew up in Spooner, and much of my extended family is still there, and attends Spooner COTN. Pastor Frazer is one of my favorite people. :D Although I know he's still reeling over me stealing my mom to Michigan last October... LOL

Naznetter David Cash is from Shell Lake, right near Spooner, and attends Spooner COTN too.

Same thing happened here in Chicago. 80s on Monday and today 40s with one heck of a wind coming off the lake. But then I grew up in the Midwest (Oklahoma then lived in Kansas City for 8 years), so I'm used to the extremes.

Yeah, Dave's a great guy and he's doing a really good work there in Spooner. You should probably move back (and bring you mom). :basic05

Sounds like a typical Midwestern Spring.

I can accept it, but I don't have to like it!

We had the other Deaton on our district for awhile. I am sure we could find a church for you out here.

Well Kevin, yesterday in Ohio, it was 81F. Today it is 36F and going down! That's nearly a 50 degree swing! We were in Columbus and forgot our coats! Fortunately we packed sweatshirts. Brrrrrr.
