People in the western parts of TX and OK need to be on the alert for very bad weather. Right now there is a large tornado near Shamrock, TX. About 14 tornadoes have already been produced with more to come. It will be a very long night for those in the paths of these storms. :basic04

Blessings of safety to everyone,

I have good friends that live north of Shamrock -- near Mobeetie. Last year they had the wind swept fires that threatened whole towns in their area. Weather in that part of the world can change quickly and violently. I'll be praying for them tonight.

Glenn, the storm trackers that are out in that area say that 25 tornadoes have been produced in that TX/OK/KS area today. Satellite photos look very scarey and we have continual weather coverage right now. Out in that area, there is much baseball-sized hail which is very noisey. A portion of 1-40 near McLean, TX has been closed in both directions. That particular one has now passed over McLean and is headed north/northeast. Ugh! I'll be praying for your friends.

Good to see you posting on NN!

Shamrock? 'Been in that little town a couple of times. We got off the main highway, went a bit south (I think it was) of there, and found Shamrock ... neat little town ... seems stuck in a former decade, considering the cute little diner we found that didn't appear to be a "remake" as some are these days, but seemed rather "original." ;)

We [Danny & I] stopped there, took a couple of pics, since we knew someone in Phoenix (his old pastor) who'd grown up in Shamrock; both he & his wife did.

The pics are somewhere either on a roll of film yet, or in the camera ... yes, I've been terrible with getting old film developed; too bad there wasn't digital then ... or there may have been but we didn't have it(?). Hope I can get some OK pics yet, in spite of the film's age, their having been kept rather airtight in those little containers that come with the film.

Anyway, 'hope that things come out OK for folks in that widespread area; that is a lot of tornadoes, when you think of what just one can do, even!

Edith,
The first REAL hailstorm I ever experienced was out in the TX panhandle. Forget the golfball size stuff. This was chunks of ice as big as softballs. They would hit the sidewalk and bounce 40 feet into the air. Farm animals were killed and I had friends whose homes sustained in excess of $ 60,000.00 damages.
I fell for those folks tonight and I'm sure they will appreciate all of our prayers.

Nods to you! Go back and reread my post; it says BASEBALL sized hail. it was extremely noisy bouncing off the storm tracker's vehicle. That size hail does kill and destroy many things - alive and otherwise. Already there has been one fatality in Beaver County from one of the tornadoes. :basic04
