Doing Research on PayPal,
I have a small online advertising service and at the present time only accept postal or bank money orders for payment. I have checked with my bank, but to be set up using them for payments would cost me a small fortune. They are geared more for corporate adventures and that is not the way I'm going.
PayPal on the surface seems to be more of what I am looking for in accepting payments for my services from customers.
Any feed back, neg or pos, would be appreciated.
If you would prefer to send comments via email, that would be ok with me.

I have used paypal to pay others (for ebay purchases for example) and have never had problems. I can't speak for receiveing money but almost every seller on Ebay has you pay them via payal....so in other words...lots of people use it.
I'm sure its a matter of time until we hear of some hacker getting in to their system. But, you can't live in fear. ha ha

I have both sent and received money via PayPal. It is well suited to low-volume transactions. Your customers do not have to have a PayPal account in order to send you money.
The only downside is the fees although they are still more affordable than standard merchant account fees if you factor in start up costs and secure server costs.

I also have used Paypal for ebay purchases and sales as well as some personal transactions when others wished to get money to me. It is very user friendly. I have had one experience with someone getting access to my account and getting funds. Paypal was very helpful and had the money returned and the matter settled within a couple days. That has been several years ago, I haven't had any problem since. Problems like that are a part of real life today, the ability of Paypal to deal with the problem left me satified that the service was safe.

I use PayPal to receive payment from eBay sales. I have never had any problems except that one time I received an e-mail saying it was from PayPal but it was not. Just be sure that your name is always on any communication you receive from PayPal. Then it will be legitimate.
You do have to pay a percentage of the amount you are receiving but possibly it will be less than the account you talked about setting up with the bank.
I would recommend PayPal.

PayPal's policy is that they will NEVER send you email.
Phishing thieves will send you emails looking to steel your banking info.
NEVER respond to them... Send their link and email address to EBay.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.
I don't mind paying the percentage that is in the info on the PayPal site, it was going to cost over a thousand for me to get set up at my bank plus a much higher percentage. I would have had to raise my service rates too high to compensate for the cost, one of my goals for my ad service is to keep not only my expenses down, but also give my customers as much of a break as I can and still stay a-float. I won't get rich, but I'll survive; for me that's enough.
Thanks again,
Ken

Wait a minute. I get e-mails from PayPal all of the time, telling me I have received payment.
I did get an e-mail one time that said something about a transaction I wasn't involved in and they wanted me to respond. That was a phishing e-mail and I took care of it properly.

We are very happy with Pay Pal. I can even send money to my niece in London for her baby that way. We have ours set up for it to be taken out of our bank account.
Dwayne ordered digital pianos for us and the church through Ebay.

As a non-profit 501c3 the CRI/Voice site uses PayPal to collect donations online. We have not yet had a problem. It is easy to set up and maintain. I don't like the fees but they are acceptable for the service, especially since this is money that we most likely would not get otherwise. It would get expensive for large amounts, but our online donations usually run under $500.
You can see how it's set up by following the link at http://www.crivoice.org/donation.html

I agree with Dennis. We went to PayPal over two years ago and have had no problems. PayPal has a feature we use that I see CRI has not installed--the recurring donation. One does have to join PayPal to use that feature, but it allows a certain amount to be donated each month automatically.

I also use Paypal for ebay items. I have never had a problem with Paypal. I have transferred from my bank account into Paypal so I could purchase items on ebay. Hi Ken by the way!:basic01
