Do we include The High Priestly Prayer in our celebration of Easter? Didn't it occur after the Last Supper and before his betrayal by Judas?

In the early 70s Reuben Welch gave a sermon with John 17 as the text at Pasadena First Church of the Nazarene. It was a masterpiece. We wore out one tape of the sermon and wrote again for another copy. We shared it in Swaziland and in South Africa. I will never forget it.

What do I remember about it? The most memorable was when Jesus said, "I am Thine and they are mine." I think we are included in the 'mine'. We are His! PTL!! And He is still interceding for us.

Isn't Reuben Welch, the grandson of Uncle Buddy?

Yes, he is.

Reuben still teaches a Sunday School class at San Diego First Church of the Nazarene.

I have sometimes wondered if the nearby disciples were asleep, how Jesus' prayer in the garden was recorded.

Having been through college and seminary, I can imagine that the prayer was actually 50 minutes long and during brief moments of waking, the disciples remember bits and pieces. If they had more time, they could have asked which parts would be on the test. :)

That raises the question, who recorded God saying, "Let there be light?" :basic05

We know of course that God dictated that part of the Bible to Moses right after Charlton Heston taught Moses to speak King James English.

We don't know but we do know it wasn't Job, according to God's questions to him!
