Here's a couple for the Red Sox fans out there. These are from Matsuzaka's first MLB start out here in frigid Kansas City. Those Japanese guys stayed like that for about five hours in 38 degree temps. Real team players.

Greetings, Ryan. There are a few Red Sox fans on NazNet. For some reason many of them have the same last name as you.

Do you think the writing on the guts says "Red Sox"?
And welcome Ryan!

Their backs had a pair of Dice and a big K for Matsuzaka's unfortunate nickname. I have no idea what the front says.

So for her birthday, I took my mother to Matsuzaka's first ever start at Fenway. I have a clergy pass that gets a guest and I into the park for $7 each, which is unbelievable for Fenway. Anyway, we had a good time despite a loss. Some pictures are attached. If you're a baseball fan and you haven't been to Fenway, I encourage you to go. While the place certainly has a special meaning to me as a lifelong Sox fan and regular attender of games, I imagine anyone who loves baseball would appreciate the Fenway atmosphere.
Here's a link to a panoramic I crudely put together:

You either got there early or stayed late. Obviously there weren't that many empty seats at game time.
I saw part of the game on tv. It is one of the few games the Mariners have gotten to play this year.

Thanks Jeremy! Yes, we actually had a baby shower today. There's something about receiving gifts for this little one that makes his coming all the more real! Hope you're well.

Yes! Hello John and Barb. How are you guys doing? I still remember serving as a children's camp counselor at Pinecrest with John several years ago now. That was a great time. Hope you are well.

Jason,
John saw your mom today at a DAB meeting.
For the rest of you, Jason's mom was the first woman to ever be elected to the District Advisory Board for the Missouri District. She keeps those men in line...especially the pastors.

Barb,
I've continually teased her that she will eventually be elected as a General Superintendent, and president of MNU, and any other leadership position that opens up in Nazarenedom - all at the same time. All in good fun of course. That's what a son is for, right? :) Actually, I'm proud of her in every way...

I'd be anxious to set the record straight too...
:)
There are days I'm glad I'm a denominational transplant, and not part of a family deeply steeped in Nazarene-dom. This might just be one of those days! :)
(Are we really having this conversation in the Photography forum?)

Curiously, my father was the only son of Richard Scott, Sr, whose line of Scott male children almost died without namesake for several generations, so this all almost didn't need clarifying.
I will point out that we are all glad that this did in fact need clarification...for your sons are "good stuff" too. Which I imagine is a reflection of their parents, whom I've only met a couple of times... :)

Ok, Sports Fans,
I admit I am not a sports fan. I have no clue what MATSUZAKA is. I saw the photos on the photography forum. It looks like something that is not isolated to one baseball stadium and some sort of group of silly fans wearing oriental characters on headbands, signs and their bodies.
Would someone please explain to me what this is?????

Daisuke Matsuzaka is a person, a 26 year old pitcher from Japan that the Boston Red Sox paid big money to talk to and then sign. The reason you saw two different ball parks is that Ryan Scott went to Matsuzaka's first ever major league start (which was in Kansas City against the Royals). He posted pictures.
Then on Wednesday I took my mother to Matsuzaka's first ever start at the home ball park of the Red Sox. I posted pictures (though none with Mr. Matsuzaka, which may have caused the confusion).
I vote that this new thread is transferred to the original Matsuzaka thread.
By the way, Matsuzaka is hardly the first Japanese baseball player to come to play in the US Major Leagues. There are several of them, the biggest three being Daisuke Matsuzaka, Ichiro Suzuki, and Hideki Matsui. These are star ball players, first in Japan and now the US. I'd say that if Ichiro continues playing how he has been for the next few years, his name must come up in discussion with those we talk about as the greatest hitters ever.
By the way, Matsuzaka's first name (Daisuke) is pronounced "dice-kay", which is why you'll often see him referred to just as "Dice-K", with pictures of a set of dice and a "K" (a common reference to a strike out in baseball).

Well, what do you know....I have learned something new today. LOL
I did see the picture of a Japanese-looking player and figured he had something to do with it, but since I am not a sports fan of any sports, I had no clue what this all meant.
Dice-K.....that is cute. Now I understand all the stuff in those pictures.
I guess he would be compared to Polhols, or however you spell the Cardinal's player. I call him Pool Halls.
Oh, yes, Jeremy.....I was not referring to your mother and you as the silly fans....just the guys with the bare chests with paint on them. LOL
LOL
I was afraid to ask this question on the photo forum since someone had already mentioned there that maybe they should not be talking about relatives on the photo forum.

At midseason, I found a great report on boston.com about Dice-K. He's apparently everything most American athletes are not:
humble
apologetic for letting his team down when he has
well-poised
etc.

Nice to know.
