Cricket world cup!

Who do you think will be in final? I think its New Zealand v Australia with NZ getting a shock victory.

I said from the beginning that I thought the final would be Australia v NZ, so I will stick by it. New Zealand have some great players and they could even win it, they won't of course Australia will but they could.
For those that have even the slightest interest, we are coming to the end of the second round of matches. Australia is still undefeated and sits at the top of the ladder. The top four will go through to the semis. They currently are Australia, NZ, Sri Lanka, South Africa, with England only just in touch because SA is falling apart at the seems.

Ian, I'm really sorry that England was not able to put up a better fight against South African, that was really ashame.

We are now down to the finals. The final four are Australia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and South Africa. New Zealand plays Sri Lanka on Tuesday and Australia plays South Africa for the right to play the Grand Final on Saturday.

Well folks, we are coming down to the final posts on this thread. The last of the semi finals has just been completed. Sri Lanka pretty much destroyed New Zealand and Australia has just finished dismantling South Africa.
South Africa has a real mental block in playing Australia. They came into the compitition as the world #1 team and played well but froze each time they came up against Australia.
Australia is now in their fourth consecutive world cup final and are going for their third successive win. Since 1999 (world cups are played every four years) Australia has won 28 consecutive games. It should be a really great game as Sri Lanka has some incredible talent in their team.

Its quite sensational, i just wonder if Sri Lanka have what it takes. Though i fancy Austrelia my heart goes with Sri Lanka in this one, what a boost for that troubled counrty if thay win, cant wait. :)

Well it is all over folks. In a dominating display with a simply bizarre conclusion that you would have to be a cricket follower to even begin to understand Australia took out it's third successive world cup title and reclaimed its #1 status. All is right with the world again and now the cricket stage goes quiet for the next few months.
