Old Saab

The other day we had the annual party for our employees and went by boat to an old town. There I saw this Saab 96, that I would guess is from around the mid 60's. My dad used to have one like that! It was a 3 cylinder 841 cc engine, and you had to add oil to the petrol, half a liter on 28 liter of petrol.

Great car. One of the first with what we call a cage construction to protect the driver in case of a collision.

I remember seeing one of them around town in the early 70's. It was pretty beat up and had a hole in the muffler. I didn't know anything about them but it sounded very different.

The chairman of the English department at Aurora Central High school in Aurora, Colorado had a Saab like this one - it was painted red.

He was faithful to add the proper amount of oil to the gasoline.
