A friend of mine recently wrote this, I thought it was very good.

"Oftentimes we want enough of God to make us happy, but not enough to make us change. We are as intimate with God as we choose to be. The longer I go without being filled with God's presence, the drier, emptier, and more frustrated I'm going to become."

The church I grew up in is surrounded by a culture of poverty. It [the church and the culture] really negatively affected me. But, I have never seen so many people achingly desperate for God like I did in that area. That is why God is moving big time there. My friend who still lives there calls me every Sunday night around 10 pm to say that church had just gotten done and she was on her way home. She'll rave for the entire 30 min ride home how wonderful it was to meet with God in the service that night. :smilies0262:

I find alot of truth in that statement. I even think we could substitute the word "God" for "religious/mystical experience" and still be just as close to the truth.

I know what you're saying Hank and I value those times as well; but I like the idea of "connecting" with the "personal God". Great music might indeed move me, as well as some inspiring liturgy or ritual, but in the end unless I feel that I interact person to person with Christ, I am left hungering still.
