View Full Version : Any Nazarenes in Kansas City?

I'll be in Kansas City on May 10 through May 15 to witness the graduation of my son-in-law from Nazarene Theological Seminary (Top honors in Greek) and to be with my daughter (Teacher of the Year at her school). The Preacher/Teacher combo worked well with my parents. It will be interesting to see how David and Jessica's calling and career unfold. It would be nice if God called them closer to home.

Perhaps there will be a chance meeting along the way with some NazNetters (unless you see me first).

Mark--
I won't be in KC and am sure you'll find lots of Nazarenes there so I'm not posting to answer those questions. So, I'll hijack this thread a bit. But, please send my congratulations to David and Jessica. Dave was my S.I. (Supplemental Instructor) in Introduction to Psychology at ENC for my first time teaching it. I had 72 students (was promised only 40) and he did a great job of helping me keep up with the paperwork. In addition, he was a great teaching assistant. The students did better that semester than any other term I taught Psychology. Jessica left ENC with high marks for her teaching so I'm not surprised she was Teacher of the Year. Great job!

Keep us posted as to where they land! I'd imagine that the Massachusetts and Virginia families each want them nearby.

Blessings,
==anita==

Isn't this sort of like asking if there are any Catholics in Rome?

Is the pope Catholic?

:basic05

You beat me to it Marsha. I was going to respond with some quip like, "Duh, there are a lot of Nazarenes in Kansas City, it's the International Headquarters of the Church", but I'm just not quick enough. :fav18

Seriously, there are several Naznetters who post who live in and around Kansas City.

C'mon you guys. You should know me better than that by now.
The title is tongue-fully-planted-in-cheek. Hmmm... maybe I
am the only one who thinks I've been clever with my titles.
Small things amuse me. (In fact, "Nothing" amuses me a lot.)

:fun04

Thanks, Anita. I've been praying for God's best, with the tag of Dad's preference.

I plan on being at NTS graduation. I haven't missed on since I've been out here. I'm sure my wife will be glad to see you.

Ryan, what a curious message. Why will your wife be glad to see me, and won't you be glad to see me? Further, you will have to see me, because you've not posted any pictures of yourself (that I can find). :gen07

P.S. I'll be the little kid with the red shirt on.
(Actually, I have a recent photo in the Photograhy area.)

Mark, do you know how hard it is to carry on a serious theological discussion with a little kid in a red shirt?

Ryan, if you are trying to escape the KC-OKC axis then consider Boise, Idaho. Many Nazarenes in the area but much better weather and scenery.

Yes. It is my ploy. How can anyone get angry with a child?

(I also put my Dad's avatar in for him and chose him as a small boy, too.)

I like it because it reminds me that every adult in here was once a child who,
through life experiences, are what they are today.

Mark, I laughed when I read the title of your post. My response was going to be: "Is the Pope Catholic?"

Enjoy your trip and congratulations to your son-in-law and also to your daughter.

I did consider this picture, but I thought people would respond more easily to a child than to a clown.

Well, I'm here in Kansas City and i have seen a few Nazarenes.

The rental car agent asked me why I was visiting Kansas City. I replied, "relatives." He responded "Of course, there isn't anything to see in Kansas City." I thought out loud, "You said that, I didn't."

It is a nice enough place, I think, and I have been pleasantly impressed with the seminary (though my exposure has been limited). It seems like a tighter
community than college ever was. After listening to many of the graduates speak at their final chapel, I spoke with my college contemporary, Dr. Doug Hardy, and told him that he was a very rich man. Many of his students, including my son-in-law are indebted to him and the other professors; treasures in heaven, indeed!

I have a few more Nazarenes to see while I am here.

LOL! I have to admit that pretty much all of Kansas (yes I know, KC is partly in MI) fits that description. I like the painted cows in front of a mall in KC though, and the shop selling Christmas stuff in July!

I think you mean MO for Missouri, Hans. MI is Michigan and we do have many Nazarenes here but I don't think many of them spilled over from Kansas.:basic02 We had a great time a few weeks ago when the three Michigan districts (Michigan, Eastern Michigan and North Michigan) were together for a TEAM day. It was a well planned and well organized event that provided information for several different groups. I enjoyed the NMI events.:fav18

We're on our way to the NTS graduation ceremony. Hope to see Ryan Scott's.... wife Katelynn (and Ryan, too). Maybe we'll see some real
Nazarenes there, too. ;-)
