I am so impressed.
I work as a fourth grade tutor at our local middle school.
When I arrived at school today, a local church, not a Nazarene Church,
had left a box of a variety of homemade cookies and brownies in the office and the teachers' lounge with a note attached reading "Thank you for your services."
When I asked about it I was told they had also left cookies at the other local schools, the fire department and police station.
I have been in the field of education since the late 60's and do not remember being appreciated in this way. I thought it was a very kind gesture. Maybe your church would like to do the same thing.
It certainly made an impact.

A friend of mine was invited this past Sunday to a local church (a Nazarene church) by one of his students for "favorite teacher day." Apparently all of the children and teenagers were instructed to invite a teacher they liked. All of the teachers were given a gift basket (some hot chocolate and other snacks and a small denomination gift card to some store I've forgotten). He said he felt very appreciated and was pleasantly surprised to not receive an impassioned plea to come back to the church.

Well, I'm not a teacher, but an exectutive assistant. Today is Administrative Professionals Day. No one in my office did anything for me at all. Not even saying have a good day.

Don't feel bad Marsha, same thing happened here. I guess I didin't remind them it was Admin Professional Day. My fault.

As a former principal I wish to extend my appreciation to both of you and any others in behalf of those who missed doing so.

We couldn't exist without our school secretaries. They are wonderful. I am sure your office is the same. My appreciation goes out to all of you who were not appreciated by your bosses or co-workers.

last week was National Volunteer Week. perhaps they left them for that reason?
at any rate - what a nice thing to do :)
and Marsha, didn't you say you got flowers on Monday for Administrative Professionals Week? sorry they didn't do anything yesterday :(

Jen
The flowers were actually from a naznet friend. So my office has been bright this week. I should not have complained. My boss is on vacation this week and he is good to work for year round; so that is more important than getting gifts.
I think the thrill of gift giving and receiving is that unexpected appreciation and the blessing you receive as giving something and not expecting anything in return.
