Ebony's moment of glory......

Well, Ebony lost her job as "the dog" in the play "Of Mice and Men" -- she just couldn't LOOK the part of a 14-year-old arthritic dog about to get shot in the head. She was just too beautiful!

Seriously!! We couldn't make her look old enough or convincing in the part of the old dog. Soooo, even though she acted perfectly, her looks were her downfall -- ain't that the way it always happens? Just too beautiful.....

LOL

Anyway, it turns out that they were able to find an actual old dog -- arthritis and all!! He's a 12-year-old Golden Retriever/Lab mix, and he does the part PERFECTLY. They asked Lindsey to be his handler, so she still gets to have the experience of handling the dog actor.

We weren't sad that Ebony lost her job.....because she did a great job in the acting part and now we know that she could actually DO it if they ever do a play that is set in Alaska or something......LOL

Anyway, we did get some pictures of her on stage during rehearsals before Buddy came into the picture. I'm going to get some pictures of him on Sunday at the play, so I'll post them. They couldn't have found a more perfect dog than Buddy, so I'm glad for that.....

Anyway, here's Ebony's one time in the spotlight!! LOL

She was not the right fit for the job, Anne.....she was just too young looking, plus she is a northern breed rather than a ranch type dog. She just was not convincing as far as her looks. She did a great job as far as the acting part -- she did her down-stays almost perfectly. She just didn't look SICK enough or OLD enough!! HA HA Ha
