I have promised to provide the pictures I took to the other members of my tour group. Most are from the U.S., but I need to provide one each to couples from The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Great Britian. The couple from The Netherlands said that they don't think a U.S. DVD disk will work on their computer.
I know that televisions in most of the world (other than the U.S.) use the PAL system, but I thought that made a differenc only in the output from the video card, but not with the video disk.
I am further confused because they suggested that a CD from the US would work, but a DVD disk won't. That doesn't make sense to me.

Dave, if you simply send a disk with pictures, it will work perfectly on their PC, either a CD or a DVD. No problem.
If it is a NTSC movie, most DVD-players sold here support both PAL and NTSC, so that should not be a problem either. The other day I got some DVD's from NNU, and I have a DVD from the 2005 GA and they all play perfectly both on my DVD player and on my PC.

Thanks, Hans. That will make my life easier. I have promised to provide a DVD to each couple that were part of our tour group.

As I do know, that meet only videos - European DVD players can not read Videos, splitted to several channels. I own an US - american legal Copy of the british movie "Mothertimes" with my favorite actress Miss Kate Maberly - I can not watch with sound - I only can watch without sound because sound channel will not been found by my DVD - player. Walking throught the menu, I can choose the sound channel and can listen to the movies sound, but than I do not see the pictures at the same time.
I think, Hans is right - the problem does not meet photographers, photos. Never heard, someone had difficulties with other files - except videos.
