Mark Metcalfe already mentioned that Nate Patnode and Brian Bollinger will be ordained Saturday morning. This is New England's 100th assembly. This evening representatives from each church carried in banners made for and by the local church. They came in and were introduced by order of their date of organization, from 1888, right on up to the present. At the beginning of the service their were 102 banners all around the Wollaston sanctuary, nearly a third of which are churches worshipping in languages other than English. Dr. Jossie Owens gave her report, in which she not only took us back to the thoughts of her 16 DS precedessors, but looked forward to the next two hundred years. In preparation of her report, she read DS reports from every journal. She admitted it was much more of a beautiful spiritual journey than she had anticipated.

The final part of the service was the organization of a new Spanish church, which meets in Lynn, MA. 32 charter members joined, most by profession of faith. A kinda neat moment was when the 103rd banner joined those that had come in at the beginning of the service.

Last evening was the NMI opening service, which was again marked by several choirs: children, youth, Haitian, Spanish and Korean, with three different bands. Carol and Dan Ketchum spoke and sang. There was not a dull moment, unless it was the time when Dan's power point failed. A highlight of convention today was pictures and testimonies were showed of more than forty New England young people ages 7 - 20 who have expressed a call to missions. We may be a hundred years old, but the Lord's not done with us yet!

Tomorrow evening is scheduled to be a baptism service, with testimonies also from some of those who were baptized last year. At the close of the baptism service last year, there were also three or four who were saved. Most who were there sorta felt that people coming to faith should be an important part of district assembly. Last year and this, baptism candidates have been encouraged to invite their unsaved families and friends to district assembly. Last year some came as far as four hours to see what was going on.

Another great assembly.
