Not even sure if I can get this thing posted right! I see now the cap worked suddenly, while it did not want to work in the title. Anyway, more than once when I get back on-line, the browser keeps opening new windows, rather than tabs, and it is set for tabs, not windows.
Then, too, I will try to scroll down the page and, rather than going down the page I'm on, the mouse scrolling wheel scrolls from page to page at each click, rather than line to line on the same page.
Even before that, when I went to sign on [I've given it a password to sign on that usually works OK], I had to put the caps lock on for it to understand my lower case password. Most of the time it works perfectly, so I'm not sure what on earth is happening when suddenly the caps/lower case are mixed up, and the browser wants to do new windows rather than tabs, in spite of its settings. Not sure what happens, either, when it suddenly reverts back to working right.
HOWEVER, this thing re flipping from page to page while trying to scroll is a new thing added to it today. Browser problem ... mouse problem ... keyboard problem?
Hmmmmmmm ... any quick-fix suggestions that someone's found works when they've had the same/similar problem that suddenly disappears when you didn't know why. 'Would be nice to have something to do right away, rather than diddle with its frustrating ways until it suddenly works right.
Thanks!

I can address the flipping pages problem, as I have had the same thing happen and was like...what?
when you have multiple tabs open, if you click on say the first tab title, then scroll or use keyboard arrows, you will flip between pages. you have to click anywhere in the tabbed window (that is not a link, or any text) you want to stay in and that will cease. reading this now does not make sense, but I know what I mean, lol
when I want to open a new tab from a link, I just right click and choose open in a new tab, but I would suspect some links will override your decision if you want it to open in a tab. just my small thinks
blessings,
Terri

You need to get a manual typewriter and a box of stationary. They would give you a lot less problems :basic03

Maybe reinstall your browser and check your keyboard driver. Dell keyboards do act up. That is why I threw my dell keyboard out in the trash.

Terri's response for scrolling is dead on. Your cursor needs to be "inside" the specific window where you want to scroll using your wheel. Otherwise the scroll wheel will simply scroll from window-title to window-title ... i.e. moving from window to window on each wheel click.
Many/most/all of your other concerns may very well be related to "used-up" resources. That is, your cache may be too full, and your computer's RAM resources fully-utilized. Try re-booting to clear your cache. The free'd-up reources that result from a warm or cold boot seems to work miracles on the performance of your mouse, screen and keyboard.
Hope some of this may help, Gina. It is frustrating when these boxes are defiant and disobedient.

We all have very recalcitrant computers at times! Eh Gord...

Thanks, y'all. However, I could have my cursor right in the middle of the page, not off the margin somewhere (which it sounded like might take someone to a new page, rather than tab), and it would still act the same, tho' it's now acting OK. How that came about, who knows.
Anyway, I could even go to "File" at the tob, then click on "New Tab," and it would pop up a new window, rather than a new tab! But, today it's OK again.
Gremlins, I guess ... since it wasn't related to answers here. So, guess I'll just put up with it until it cures itself. BTW, Mark, it's not a Dell keyboard; it's the one that came with my Cisnet computer about 1.5 yrs ago. ;) [do you think the fact that it's sometimes been dropped on the floor (from my lap where I type) might have anything to do with it? oops!]

I thought of you this morning, Mark ... I found a word that was new to me, and I thought you might enjoy it. The word is "pawky" ... cool, eh!
pawky (PAW-kee) adjective
Sly, shrewd; dryly humorous.
[From Scots pawk (trick).]
"I run into David, the outspoken protester from the Kerry rally,
standing next to a pawky, whey-faced fellow."
Wells Tower; Bird-Dogging the Bush Vote; Harper's (New York); Mar 2005.
"[Old Tom] had a pawky sense of fun, a dry humor."
John Garrity; Old Tom Morris is But One of Many Legends;
Sports Illustrated (New York); Feb 17, 1995.

Your fine print was always a challenge to read and if the post was longer I sometimes gave up. Do like your new font ( and colour ) immensely . Thank you ! And . no , I don't even need reading glasses but that was just too small.

Sorry about that, Marg. I had no idea about the small size of my font until Dave mentioned it the other day. It looked the same as just about everyone else from where I sat. I hope this new BIGGER Gord, is also BETTER!
Are you going to be able to come to NMI Convention on June 9th? Sounds like it's going to be a good one. It's at Emmanuel.

Yeah, it was smaller than most here, too. What I'd have to do, if I wanted to read it, was go to the top of browser, click "view," then in the drop-down menu there's "text size," and rolling down to that, it pops a deal to the right of it that lets you click either, "increase" or "decrease." We did "increase," of course. ;)
Thanks for eliminating some of our work, Gord. :fav18

No, I 'll miss everything this year . With it being split up into 3 parts its just too far to keep driving back and forth and cost prohibitive to stay down that long ( a week) and would have to board my dog for the same period of time . With my mobility , doing everything I would have to for a day or day and evening at the most is just too much . I have to get someone to help me take things to the car and then back in the house . A 4 nighter that took in both conventions and assembly was great but I guess they are catering more to those within 100 mile range and not those of us more far flung . Sure will miss seeing everyone and getting at the up to date info . Thanks for asking . Have a great time !
I think Nadine Lewis and her husband Andrew and daughter Joelle ( 3 ) are going to the missions event but will plan on making it a weekend away .

I'm not talking about having the cursor in the page you want to scroll in, the actual mouse action has to be in that window. If the mouse action is still in the tab/title area but the cursor is in the middle of the page, it will still flip between pages/tabs.
try it, you'll see :basic05
