Haverim. Pairs or small groups grapple together aloud over a text, earnest in their desire to dig deeper. This tradition is ancient – a rabbinic comment was made before Jesus’ time that you should “get yourself a haver,” a study partner.

Here is a video of haverim studying together in a modern Orthodox Jewish yeshiva, (seminary) in Jerusalem. It shows how they stand face to face with their books in hands and argue back and forth, discussing the text together. Everything is very animated – people are davening (swaying) and waving their hands, and very passionate about everything they do.

Cynthia, I actually see many similarities to NazNet! :smilies0262:

Seems we do have some similarities to this sister theistic religion after all. I have a Jewish friend with whom I have found much common ground, especially on social and moral issues. It's amazing how conservative he is, and he would make a good Nazarene in almost every area -- except for the issue of the deity of Christ.

Even though I'm a seminary grad. I choose to stay back in the shadows on much of the theology discussions. I usually only jump in when there's a point I simply cannot refrain from making. :smilies0723:

Blessings to you,

Hey John,

It was such a blessing to see you at 6 Flags Naz Nite last year...and hear the incredible things God is doing up your way. Are you going to be there again this year? If you are Paul and I will be sure to stop by.

I've appreciated the great posts you have made on Naznet.
I just wish that so many didn't vanish in the Great Crash of 2010. :smilies0119:

I think what I like best about the video clip is the way scripture is studed in community....with haverim. There is such passion...and hand waving. I'm blessed to have my husband as my haver...as well as my friends at Naznet.

Blessings to you John,
