Seeing Dave and Linda's hiking pictures has brought back memories of my last major trip. A friend and I climbed Mt. Whitney about a year ago. My advice: 7,000 vertical feet in each direction over 22 miles of hiking in a 14 hour period is not smart for anyone, but the experience was pretty amazing.
I'd recommend at least a trip to the Whitney Portal for a delicious cheeseburger, even if you're not going to make the hike.
