That sure looked like rugged territority . Was that hail at one point at that cabin ? That would have been it for me ! Thanks for the purple flowers 3 times . The blue ones were nice as well. Snow at the top . What a trip ! I 'm sure glad I wasn't trying to actually do that trip. This way was much better .
Thanks again .

Yes. That was hail at the cabin. Our host at the camp said it was the most hail they have experienced in the years that they have been caretakers of the camp.
The purple flower is the columbine, the state flower of Colorado.
Thanks for your feedback. I am especially proud of Linda for making the climb. She has now set her sights on Mt. St. Helens.

She is doing great and keeping up to a veteran hiker well. Either she is learning to love it or just wanting to spend more time with you , Dave . Either way she's a winner .

She claims that she really loves it. Several years ago, I talked her into climbing Mt. Washington in NH with me. Since then, it has kind of gotten into her blood.
I am really not surprized that she would enjoy the hike, but I am surprized that she would enjoy backpack camping.

Frances Lewis told me tonight that her son, Doug, will be RUNNING a marathon up and back down Pikes Peak this month. It will be his 3rd year to run up and his 1st year to run back down. He and several of his doctor buddies are really into this sport and make it a highlight of their year. From the photos you posted, I can't imagine anyone actually running the Peak but there is a marathon every August when that happens. She and Larry, along with some other relatives, are going down for the event and will be cheering them on when they finish.
Just thought this might be of interest to you and perhaps we will see you and Linda doing it in the future? :)

I am content just to climb it. I am not into running. My son, Dennis, is running in preparation of doing the Seattle Marathon this year.
