I had Mrs.Phillips for a class on the first day of my college career.I can still remember how she prayed with such conviction for the incoming Freshmen that we would seek and find God's will. She was a great lady!

She was indeed a great lady, and had a wonderful husband that Dwayne and I dearly loved. They had two precious daughters. Wasn't she living with Kathy? Dwayne was in school with Ellen and Louie, as you Tom, and Michael Ross were.
I always remembered the birthdays of their grandchildren when we would see Bro. Phillips, and that pleased him. He spent the night with us once.

I went to Trevecca in 1957 for two quarters before I went in Nurses Training. Had Mrs Phillips for Journalism. I loved her. She was so spiritual and concerned about her students. That was the early days of the Bible Missionary Church and there was one member, who was a ministerial student, in my class. Mrs Phillips said she took off her wedding band in deferance to him, because he though christians shouldn't wear any rings. She told us all that if she took her children to the doctor or went anywhere else where she felt she needed to be identified as a married woman she would put it on. That really impressed that 17 year old girl and has stayed with me all of those years.

Tom, thank you for posting this. I had Mrs. Phillips for Freshman English. My Mother had Mrs. Phillips for English!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about tenure and longeivity. You are right in that she prayed with conviction over her students. She and Dr. Koy Phillips were members of Nashville First Church until Koy's death and until Mrs. Phillips moved to KC to live with Ellen. I don't know if Kathleen is still in the Nashville area or not. The last time I saw Kathleen I believe she told me that she was attending Christ Church.

God Bless the memory of Mrs. Phillips. In our youth I do not think we appreciate the prayers like we do as we grow older.

Someone once told me that she was in KC with Kathleen, so I thought she must have left Trevecca. They must have gotten mixed up about which daughter she was with, or maybe she and Kathleen were visiting Ellen, and I did not realize what they meant.

She has been living with Louie and Ellen for several years. This is a picture taken from a video Ellen made as a 50th birthday greeting for my wife Faye in 2003.
