It's a lot of fun. You get a team made up of NFL players and earn points based on their performance each week. Your rank against other players changes each week based on the number of points earned.

Gary,
I have never done a fantasy league and I am really short on free time in the fall. However, could you give me a maybe brief outline of what is involved with doing this? If I think it is something I can do in a way that I feel I have given it a good effort and not taken away from other duties, I would be willing to do it. I just don't know what is involved.

Do we pick draft choices or are the draft choices picked for us? I thought maybe the auto-draft meant that it was automically picked......I have no idea, I will wait for an explanation, lol

The point of Fantasy football is to get points by way of your players stats.
When your quarterback throws a touchdown you get points. Your goal is to get players that will run, pass, catch and score to get you points. The auto draft is automatic computer draft but you can rank which players you would like to get.
You will have a starting roster and a couple bench positions, you want to put your best team each week. If some of your players are doing bad you can also after the draft drop them and add free agents to your team.(free agents would be anyone not selected in the draft.)
hope this helps.

As I was messing with the lineup for my fantasy team in our church league, I just noticed late this evening that our Naznet draft had taken place.
Glad I could give you folks a head start. Haven't been in a league with individual defensive players before, so had copied my pre-draft auto list from my other league and had no defensive players on my draft list.
It will be fun.

alright, so this fantasy stuff is changing the way I watch a football game. I have Ahman Green as one of my RB's and I have Donnie Edwards as a DL. They played each other this week and I was rooting for Green to run 5 yards every time he touched the ball and have Edwards tackle him solo every time. That is very strange!

Well, at least I wasn't the last in points this week.......close to it though.
Poor Mike S., he scores the second most points in the league and still gets beat by 45 points. WOW
But it relieves me that the loss was not due to one stupid decision. For example, choosing to start Palmer against the Ravens (even though the Bengals won, Palmer played poorly from a fantasy perspective) or Big Ben against the Browns. I knew Ben would probably have a good game, and that no one does well against the Ravens (although Carson's numbers against them are as good as anyone), but who would have figured that the Bengals would score so many points against the Ravens, and Palmer STILL would not have the numbers.
However, I was in heaven on Sunday afternoon. Here in Philadelphia, they showed the Pats - Jets game as well as the Eagles - Packers game at 1pm. Talk about two totally different games.
Are the Pats that good, or is the J-E-T-S defense that bad? They simply put NO pressure on Brady. And when Tom Terrific has time...
Can you imagine what is going through Randy Moss' head? He has a real QB to throw to him. Sunday night Pats-Chargers should be interesting.
So, if it is true that the Pats were stealing the Jets signs (illegal in football, part of the game in baseball), this is like the Watergate break-in ... Totally unnecessary.
Scott Hilton
11th September 2007, 09:07 AM (09:07)
NE ssure did look good, that is for sure. I think this week will give us more information on if what we saw was that they were that good or NYJ were that bad.
Ryan Scott
11th September 2007, 09:25 AM (09:25)
The post-game showed talked about how surprised the Pats coaches were at the lack of a pass-rush from the Jets. Last year the Jets were super aggressive, but this year, apparently, they felt the need to put extra guys on the new receivers.
NE-SD next week should be a good one. SD has quite the defense. If they can't slow NE down, no one can.

That can be the most frustrating part of this whole thing. Some players will be consistant, but more often than not they are all over the place with points. And, what looks good on the field isn't always best for fantasy points. A running back may have a lot of carries, but they are for short yardage or a quarterback may have a lot of yards passing but most of it is on 1 or 2 passes, which don't add up to a lot of points.
Good Luck this week.

actually that is a good quaterback in our league, because we are not a PPR league. (Points per reception). I am all for 2-3 catches of big yardage, especially when they come with a TD. To bad I didn't get to many of those last week, lol.

So I had the second lowest points this week, but won! At least I know I won't go winless in my first season. KFC (aka, Jon L) is high scorer again this week. I get Total Impact this week who in 0-2, but had the second most points in week one and suffered a close loss this week. I just had to share this with ya'll, because it is something that I was not expecting to happen with fantasy football. It has actually helped make my wife more interested in football? She keeps hearing me talk about my team and making moves etc., well she has started watching the Texans games down here with me. She actually had it turned on when I wasn't home and she had other choices! She told me that the fantasy football intrigued her for some reason and she is now asking questions about the game that before she really didn't care to know.

Jon
Scott Hilton
28th September 2007, 08:01 AM (08:01)
We are not all 3-0, lol. I actually thought there would be more trades going on, but maybe that is because we are only a 8 team league. Of course, with all of the injuries this year, the trade market may start heating up some more. Steven Jackson out for at least 2 weeks, Andre Johnson out and not determined for how long yet, Larry Johnson is having issues, Mark Bulger is hurting, Kellen Winslow is hurt, Javon Walker is ailing, Ahman Green is doubtful etc. eecks
Jonathan Long
28th September 2007, 09:46 AM (09:46)
Since we're only an 8 team league I would guess that there would be less trades... there's a deeper pool of players that haven't been taken.
I might be 3-0 but I'm sure that others will catch up during the season. There's plenty of football yet to be played!
Good luck to all this weekend! (even my opponent - since they're not doing so well)

Thanks to the sub-par play of one Mr. Tom Brady, I came amazingly close to pulling the regular season championship away from one Jeremy D. Scott (he's had about seven Patriots on his roster the whole season, but I've somehow kept it close).
Our league starts playoffs next week, but Mr. Scott and I have earned byes, so we'll have to wait a little longer for a solid rematch (we also split the season series between our two teams).
