Can't tell you how much I'm enjoying this season on NazNet! The sports thread that Millhuff started is a barrel of fun! Thanks! The thread on SWID Assbly is going to be a good one. Monck's thread on "contracts" has lots of good comments. And, I've been enjoying the thoughts on ministry on the OKC First Church thread. Seems to be an "era of good times!" (Jim Franklin, remind me where that slogan came from. I remember it from a history class, but can't connect.) Thanks, everyone! What fun!

Seems to be an "era of good times!" (Jim Franklin, remind me where that slogan came from. I remember it from a history class, but can't connect.)

It was the era of good feelings, rather than good times. It was during the period when James Monroe was elected president essentially unanimously in 1820. There were no political parties and the nation was united and optimistic about where they were and about the future.

Right you are, Brad. So with that much unity he had the political clout to issue the Monroe Doctrine which has made a big difference in the Western Hemisphere. France made a move on Mexico during our "Uncivil War" but the Mexicans rose up and took Maximillian into custody and executed him by firing squad.

Which, if I remember rightly, is what Mexico and the heavily Hispanic areas of the US like Texas celebrate on Cinco de Mayo every year. Isn't that right?

Can't find it, either. Find it OK when using Word [in the character box], but can't find it here. Even enabled the Spanish keyboard along with the English one, but after punching how-many keys to see which one would bring that up instead of whatever's printed on that key, I gave up, disabled the Spanish keyboard .............. :(
