I only lived in Boston for my four years of college, but Patriots Day and the marathon is still one of my favorite days of the year. I do wish I lived in a place that would cover it on TV, but I'm thankful for boston.com and their online live updates to keep me informed throughout the race.
We had a US citizen win the NY marathon last fall and American Ryan Hall is leading in Boston through six miles. It's fun to have a countryman to root for in the marathons again.

I've been following Chris Reilly's progress online (http://www.bostonmarathon.org/2010/cf/Public/TrackingIndividual.cfm?mode=multiple). He's bib number 4607. He's doing well, projected at a 3:02 time right now. LONG way to go though. (Chris is Naznetter John Reilly's son.)
Ryan, you'll be happy to know that Meghan's on her way home with hot dogs & buns. I've got the George Foreman grill out already. Despite the fact that we have a real grill now, I still use the George Foreman on this day (for the rest of you, to commemorate the tradition Ryan and I began in college).
Patriots Day is one of my favorites of the year. I'm looking forward to working outside after the kids nap this afternoon.

Yes, if nothing else the George Foreman grill revolutionized the culinary capacity of a dorm room. It was revolutionary for us freshman year, along with the DVD player and Jeremy's gigantic mp3 player which was almost as small as a portable CD player and could hold like 75 songs.

Relax, much like Napster, we were doing illegal things so revolutionary the rules hadn't been made yet.

Ernst Van Dyk won his 9th Boston Marathon in the men's wheelchair event. He had to come from eight seconds down at the 26 mile marker to beat second place finisher Krige Shabort by three seconds. Must have been a great finish to watch.

Teyba Erkesso seems to be running away with the women's race. The top US men have begun to fall behind two leaders, Deriba Merga and Robert Cheruiyot.

I'm also now tracking Jeremy Selvidge (bib #4642). He's a youth pastor in MI and NTS Prof and former missionary Bill Selvidge's son.

Cheriuyot of Kenya is making a move in the men's race, while Erkesso's lead has shrunk to 16 seconds with just under two miles to go.

Two miles to go and Cheruiyot has a big lead. US runners in 4th and 5th.

Two Americans in the Men's Top 5. That's an improvement, no?

I think the two US runners were in the top 8 last year, but what's more impressive were the times. These were improvements. The winning time broke the previous course record by almost 90 seconds.
How this for improbable? This year's winner Robert Cheriuyot broke the record of 2006 winner Robert Cheriuyot - these men are not related.

"Tradition?" I'm assuming it happened more than once. Though you're right, I'm less hurt now!
I don't think you guys roomed together when I was RD, did you?

Oh my goodness that is so not true and you know it. You wanted to be by yourself.
