During the past year we went through a process of meeting some architects and selecting a firm. The firm we selected told us what they needed from us. We spent several months creating our "building vision" to give them.

They have spent some time with the material we gave them and I now have a meeting with them on Friday so they share their preliminary ideas before they get too far....

We currently worship in a middle school and own a lot (3.7 acres) right next door. We are jointly designing and building a shared facility with the Nazarene Hispanic congregation in town, Amigos en Cristo.

Given where we are in the process we have a long ways to go but I am excited about this meeting!

Very exciting, Pastor Deaton, may God guide you through the process. Will you be able to share the parking lot with the school on Easter Sunday when you might have an overflow crowd? Near us is a Friends Church right next to one of our 2000+ student high schools and that is how they share their parking lots.

Actually, we had thought about how our parking lot might help them on nights when they have student concerts and stuff like that. Their parking lot is just designed for teachers and staff so when a big crowd comes they can't handle it.

Now that you mention it, however, on days like Easter I'm sure we can make good use of their lot!

They mostly wanted to ask some questions and clarify things a bit.

We did set a design time-line. The Sunday before Thanksgiving our two congregations have a combined dinner and short worship service. The target is to be able to present the master site plan to the congregations at that time. We'll have to have a few more meetings between now and then.
