After reading the review of Capote I went looking for a DVD of Breakfast At Tiffanys Alas, no luck locating same or even In Cold Blood. But I did run across an obscure film festival type movie based on one of his short stories.
Children on their Birthdays is set in 1947 small town Alabama. It is refreshing in it's innocence, contains stories of friendship, coming -of-age and romance. The most recognizable actor is Tom Arnold, who fittingly plays the role of a shyster who rolls into town with a scheme to defraud on several levels. He is handily apprehended by the three children at the center of the story.
Winner of the Worldfest-Houston Platinum Award for Family and Children's films. Directed by the creator of the Academy Award winning Children Of A Lesser God. Theme song rendered beautifully by Celine Dion.
