This is one of the more formative books I've read recently. Terence Fretheim is a great Old Testament scholar who addresses the relationship between God and creation as seen in the Old Testament. He is a strict scholar, working from the texts themselves with a fantastic understanding of Hebrew culture. I appreciate that Fretheim begins and ends with scripture, working very hard to understand the authors and the context into which it entered.
This has helped me to continue to examine and think about Genesis, the creation story, and the place of humanity within this relationship. It's well written and pretty accessible for a scholarly work. I enjoyed reading it both for its content and its prose.
