We are planning on purchasing a new wireless mic.

I will look at anything but "Shure" wireless because I have heard Shure wireless mics and was not impressed. So what is a good wireless mic and what band should I look for? UHF or VHF. We have a VHF now (Samson) which did us good service for over 10 years. Finally I think we need to invest in something up to date with a plug so we can plug anything into it.

Note: we have a bad sanctuary for feedback, but our Samson works well.

What do you use in your church (wireless) that you are very pleased with?

Sennheiser, Sennheiser, Sennheiser.

Actually, I only have two...but am very pleased with both of them. They are durable, have never given me crackles or pops--the microphones both have a great quality of reproduction--I never get feedback from them, even though often use them in front of the speakers.

I think we paid around $500 for each of them. You can get handhelds, lavs, headsets, and instrument beltpacks.

I hope that helps some!

Grace and Peace,

Jon

We bought a Countryman mic about two years ago. You will see that alot of preachers on tv wear them.
We had several churches who recommended it.
I think it was around $750.

Let me add my vote for the Countryman -- I use one every Sunday and it sounds really good. I say you get what you pay for, and while this one is expensive, it makes a big difference in listenability.

One negative is that it takes time to adjust the mic to one's face. Because of that, the rule at our church is that I am the only one who ever uses it. One work-around is that we have the clip on adapter for the mic too -- so when others need the wireless, the over-ear is unplugged and the clip on is plugged into the pack.

Still, I think everyone who does sound at our church would vote for the countryman mic.

I have used Shure mics wireless and wired and I love them, I wouldnt use any thing else beside nueman which are expensive and i have used Sennheiser and have not had any problems. As for the mic itself the only way to go is country man the best for your money mic for wireless applications. Go UHF .

That gives me a bit to go on and present to the board. Where but only on NazNet would you find fast proven advice!:fav18

I wholeheartedly agree with Jon! :fav18 Of all of the wireless mics we've been through in our church (Shure, Nady and Prostar) , the Sennheisers have been the best! That goes for lapels and handhelds.

Sennheiser makes really nice headphones, too. I have a pair at home and we use a nice pair at our sound board.
