A pastor saw a former member he had not seen for years...
"How is your husband?"
"Didn't you hear, pastor? He went to heaven a year ago."
Pastor immediately replied, "I'm sorry."
Then he thought that given the language of "went to heaven," saying he was sorry wasn't quite appropriate.
He remedied by saying, "I mean, I'm glad."
He instantly realized that was even worse, so he tried again.
"What I really mean, is that I'm surprised."
