My avatar is a picture of me taken two years ago while I was visiting a friend in Texas. My children were in the picture with me and I cut them out to make the picture smaller.

My current avatar is Bresee Hall, the administration building at SNU. I chose the picture to celebrate SNU's Homecoming next weekend. I change the avatar often for various reasons.

The one I'm using is a picture taken of me at my sister-in-law's house a few years ago. We were playing Quiddler, and my sister-in-law got out this tiara for the winner to wear. It ended up with everybody getting their picture taken wearing it.

My avatar is a picture of the character 'Captain Avatar' from the early 1980's anime cartoon called 'Starblazers'. I chose it for the sake of cleverness and irony. I was also a big fan of the show.

Mine is of me, taken about a year ago now, a few months before my diagnosis. I just picked it because the picture is better looking than I really was. ;-)

It's me :-) Picture taken at the 2007 Netherlands District Assembly in March.

The picture below my message shows the love of my life, on a hike during our vacation on the island of Madeira in June 2007.

My avatar was taken when we were on holiday in South Africa in July 2005. A friend of ours took it while we were in a place called Sabi, in the province of Mpumalanga (old Eastern Transvaal) close to the Kruger Park. It was a wonderful winters day with a temperature that day over 20°C (72°F), well over the normal temp for that time of year. It was a good holiday, and nice to be reminded of it when I occasionally glance at it :) Oh boy how our girls have grown...

Actually, Ian I liked your old avatar because it made me think you were contiually in a state of prayer. I like your current one because of its message!

I'm going to attach the original picture that was used for my avatar. As Garth mentioned regarding his picture my kids have really grown too. My husband isn't in the picture because he didn't go on this trip with us to see my friend. The picture actually started to be me and my best friend and we decided to have pictures of all the kids together and ended up getting one of me and my two also.

My avatar is a picture of me taken a few years ago. It was a picture of me that I had posted to NazNet and I was with my husband Doug. Scott cropped it and used it on the first Welcome Page. It may be about time to change it. All I need is time. :)

Mine is a picture of me that I set up and my husband took this last year. I really love it a lot. I've told everyone that it's going to be my book jacket photo - I just need to write a book now. I may also use it for my obituary if I don't get another good one before then!

We are less than a 100 miles from KC tonight, in a motel, planning to attend an Assembly of God church with friends tomorrow morning. I wish Dwayne would let us take time, to go on to KC, but he has a service at a retirement home on Monday mornings. We may never retire. ha
Also, they might put us in one of the cages with the animal, posted on Ryan's avatar.

My avatar is the logo of the organization I work for. The logo depicts the fish, thought by most to be the oldest Christian symbol, on a representation of the world. The mottled look and the unenclosed circle of the world represent the unfinished task of world evangelization.

My avatar was taken about three years ago at the Come to the Water conference. My friend and I had never stayed in a hotel as fancy as the Westin. The pillows and blankets were all extra fluffy. So once we managed to get in the room by ourselves we piled all the pillows and and blankets form the two beds on to one, then we belly-flopped from the stripped bed onto the bed piled w/ blankets and pillows. My friend managed to get this shot of me on my camera. We were young college students at the time, although given the opportunity I would probably do it again.:fav17
Everyone needs to jump on the bed in a fancy hotel at least once their life.

My friend, Mrs. v. K. told me, she sometimes did go this way to bed.
Bathroom and sleepingroom doors wide open, she runs with highest speed, jumps from sleepingroom door on bed - and does no more move - very, very enjoyed to find rest after a hard day. She runs her own business, has two little children and a large house (two appartments she did rent) with garden. She teaches two times a week in afternoons and evenings in a private school for handicapped (without to get money).

I asked her what she did, once she had guests.
"The same."
"OK - and your guests, watching you - do they go to bed the same way?"
"Yes, why not?" :basic01
"Ahh - I got an idea for first of April"
"No!

Really?"
(sigh - that a rare cases, I got good ideas, she knows me) http://htmbibel.de/phpBB2/images/smiles/rotwerd2.gif

"What is it?"
"Take off on April 1st the beds from guestrooms."

I used to have my photo as my avatar, and then I also had an Ohio State avatar. I probably should have the OSU one now, but I'm just too lazy to change it. My current avatar is the old logo for the NHL Columbus Blue Jackets. Mark and I love CBJ hockey!! It used to represent that I was a true-blue fan...because they were not very good. This year, however, they have morphed into a really competitive team!! Go Jackets!

For most of my time on Naznet my avatar has been a picture of former President Khatami of Iran. There is a scary resemblance to me. the picture was a source of jokes when I was at ENC.
Since my wife has been asking me for awhile to "Please get that picture off of there!" I changed it to a pic of me. I really had to search for one, as I don't have many pics of myself on my computer. This one was cropped from a picture with several folks who were baptized at our church.

My avatar is of Brother McClurkin (sp?), the founder of a holiness group in Tennessee that joined with the CotN.

It used to be a picture of my daughter in a bunny suit. Hans and Marsha complained that such a cute picture made it difficult to post disagreements with me, so I changed it to someone who looked very easy to disagree with!

I love it when churches have group photos from down through the years displayed somewhere in their building. You can always tell how sanctified a church is by what year they actually started smiling in their photos. I was in one church recently where even the photos from the seventies looked like everyone had been sucking on lemons. Now those were holy people!

My avatar is a picture my wife took of me over a year ago on the side of Grandfather Mountain. She was on a lower level of the trail ... I was on a rock above her taking panoramic video for something I was preparing for a worship service ... that explains the sky background (or my head being in the clouds).

Most of her pictures of me have me with a camera of some type in front of my face. Photography is a hobby I (actually both of us) enjoy, and this photo is a reminder to me to enjoy the life I have been given. Somewhat related to that is my signature line, which is stated from personal experience....

Mine is a picture of me taken while on vacation in St. Maarten with my wife earlier this year. I like avatars that are pictures of the actual people, it sort of makes Naznet feel more like personal connections.

It's also interesting to see how many have pictures that were taken on vacation. I guess that makes sense though since most people probably take more pictures on vacation then while they are sitting around the house.

Gina, I wanted to take Wanda and Michael to KFC for supper and so I dressed for the occasion. It was on that occasion that as I was holding the door open for them as they entered I heard a squeal of brakes and a car turned off the highway into the KFC parking lot and I wondered what was going on when a Navajo jumped out of his car ran up to me and said, "I've always wanted to shake the hand of someone famous." So I shook his hand, he smiled and took off.

When we went in to place our orders I told the workers I was just there to check up on "my people."

Mine is a picture of me taken in Ecuador, at the "GPS-determined Equator." (There are three different Equators, you know... the one with the big monument, the GPS Equator, and the Celestial Equator. My theory is that the multiple equators are the single-biggest cause of global warming. :) )

I was in Ecuador with ZOEGirl, and a number of radio listeners from across the country for a missions trip with Big World Venture. I was there as a radio personality, and to provide coverage of the trip to our station back home. In addition to helping ZOEGirl put on a free concert, we did street dramas, church painting, service projects, etc. I also got to visit HCJB World Radio, and ride the world's highest chairlift.

I admired Scott's photo, which I presume was taken at the radio station. When I was ready for a new photo last Christmas, I asked my daughter to take the picture while I sat in front of a bookcase (which I had just built) at the top of our open stairway. I thought books defined my life about as well as anything.

Good idea for a thread, Robin. I've learned several things about people while reading the responses.

I'll have to load my avatars below, because if you change your avatar, all of your previous posts get the current avatar and not just your new notes. I know that is because the software simply grabs the avatar from one's profile instead of making it part of the actual note. Anyway...

1. Approximately what I look like today.
2. What I looked like in 2001.
3. 1962
4. 1965 - I used this one a lot and may go back to it. To me, it represents a reminder of a time of innocence.
5. 1899; this is my Great Great Grandfather John "Jack" Metcalfe (with the clarinet) and two of his sons. It represents a reminder of my heritage.

These things are important to me.

Mark
