Been a very long day. Dad arrived at the hospital just before midnight.

We saw the first doctor around 1am - well I saw him, dad was sleeping.

2nd doctor around 7am - 3rd around 9am.

So far:

Dad did have a complete Respiratory Arrest in Florida. Has no memory of it, other then having someone yelling at him to breath. Then waking and seeing 8 people standing around him.

Blood work - good white cells, keritaine is up (have to be careful what meds he gets for xrays & ct Scans), high possibility of clotting & few other things.

Xrays & CT Scan - both completed with contrast (liguid for to protect kidneys) and a special on for seeing blood vessels in the lungs for clots (also special med given to protect kidney from this dye).

Bottom lower right lobe of the lung is not passing air the way it is suppose to and is distended lower then the diapham. Gall Bladder is enlarged - just not sure how bad at this point.

Still NPO since Tuesday night.

Sleeping 20 mins then awake for a few and then sleeping again.

CT Scan in Florida shoed the bile duct is blocked and that there is a small portion of small bowel is narrowing from the chrones disease.

Waiting in the results from CT Scan here today. 2 possbilities:
1. Operate the old fashion way while there is inflimation - cut along side and remove gall bladder.
2. Wait 4 weeks and remove through laproscope 4 small holes).

The results will determine the course of action.

OK time for a few hours sleep. It is now 5:30 pm and I have been awake since 7am yesterday. Slept for 2 hours last night with dad.

Hi Marilyn

The respiratory insufficiency should resolve when the pneumonia does..

I guess they are treating him for this with aerosol treatments and antibiotics

keep him up AND MOVING AND HYDRATED. THIS WILL HELP WITH THE LUNG PROBLEMS

gOOD THAT YOU ARE NEAR BY.. (excuse the caps i just noticed them)

anyway good that you are close and can monitor his recovery and good to be needed by your family

Keep us posted if you can

Judy
