On Saturday Nov-3rd, our District NMI held a Fall Praise Rally and Breakfast at Pastor Barry's church, the Altona Road Community Church, in Pickering, Ontario ... just east of Toronto, near Lake Ontario.
Our guests were Fernando and Liliana Almeida (http://app.nazarene.org/MissionaryProfiles/profile.jsp?profile=43692) and their children Andre and Nicole, missionaries from Portugal to Argentina.
Not only did Pastor Barry graciously open this lovely church to our Gathering, but he also was our techno-guy for the morning, making sure all of the sound and video and background music and powerpoint's and equipment actually worked seamlesly, and without a hitch (with some valuable assistance from his young son, Josh). High-fives all around!
As district NMI treasurer and Council member, I arrived with laptop computer in one hand and guitar in the other. I had been asked to lead some singing for the gathering. Barry had everything up and working in no time, and I am pleased to say, he even made me sound pretty good! :basic05
Thanks so much, Barry, for your grace as we invaded, and for your skills and calm under duress.
It wasn't good enough for us to take over the church for our Gathering. No! Following the service (which went until after 1 p.m.), we held a District NMI Council meeting. Barry went about his Saturday afternoon business, then came back to the church when we were all done, to close up. His smile did not for a moment reflect what we had done to his "day off" this week. We appreciate you, Barry!
Here's a picture of our official NazNet meeting, as well as a photo of the Almeida family. One of Barry's 'other' claims to fame, as many of you will recall, is that Pastor Barbara Moulton is his sister! What a great family!
P.S. - I just realized that John Andrews, from our Cambridge church, was also in attendance. John doesn't post here often, but he is a registered NazNetter. Sorry I missed the boat, John, and didn't include you in the meeting photo.
