Blair is willing to get rid of UK deal and pay more into European budget, if commen farming subsatises are removed. Is he right? Does he have a chance? His Eurpean Presidency comes to an end on Friday. At home he neads a good deal.
Cameron, the new Conservative Party leader, wants his Euro MP's to with draw from co-alitions with European group of Christian Democrats etc. He seems to favour attachment to more right wing groups. Is this madness?

Ian,

I understand there is a lot of discussion over the amounts paid to the EU. I know the Netherlands feel they pay more per capita than any other EU nation. And I think Blair is right regarding farming subsidies. They will have to go, though I also understand it can't be done overnight.

I know he is busily negotiating this at this very moment as his presidency comes to an end on Friday. His problem being if he gives more money to budget without something in return he will be in trouble in UK. Lets hope for some movement in the European log jam.
