Question about cameras

We will be attending a Christmas party Thursday evening inside a country club. Can you tell me which camera to take? I have a Cannon AE1 regular 35m camera, and a Cannon Powershot S230 digital. Which one would do better in a darker room? For the regular camera I have 400 spd film.

I think I would take the digital. I haven't used that camera and I don't know what software you have but digitals seem to do better in low light. Plus there is a lot you can do to lighten them with your computer software if they turn out too dark. The down side is that sometimes the auto focus doesn't work so well in low light.

If you use your AE1, get 800 or even 1000 film. I rarely use anything over 1000 unless there is no other way to get the picture. Then shoot the whole roll. It's easier for the photo lab if you have all the same kind of lighting on a roll of film.
