We are in the process of replacing the concrete sidewalks at the church with brick paving. We paid a crew to remove the sidewalks. Then, we have a group from the church who worked around 10 hours yesterday and another 5 today putting down the new brick sidewalks.

It is really more than a sidewalk. We have a very large patio across the entire front of the church. There used to be just a small sidewalk from one door to the other covered by the patio. We are in the process of bricking the entire patio. It will be a wonderful place for future church events.

Unfortunately, we have had some rain move in that has brought a stop to our work. Tomorrow, we will only have one sidewalk in. However, it is going to be a beautiful addition to the church when it is finished.

As a pastor I am so grateful for church members who are willing to not only give up the entire Friday after Thanksgiving and a good part of Saturday to make the church look nicer. Also, as I pastor I must say that I am not in the same physical shape that I was in when I worked as a construction laborer years ago!

Here are a few photos of the work so far.

Very pretty work. It's nice to have something tangible to see after working so hard on it.

A few years ago, someone in my home town in Kansas ludicrously plotted to remove a couple of the brick streets, to replace with something more modern--concrete. I believe the uproar that followed put a damper in the plans. The last I drove those streets, they were still brick.

The very first Church of the Nazarene that I was ever a member of was the Alvin church. I joined when I was ten. Your pictures brought back good memories.

We've finished another couple of days of brick work at the church. All we have left is the main sidewalk in. If we don't get too much rain, the project may be finished next week. So far, I think it looks terrific.
