This is a wonderfully clever and funny movie.

I give it five star and two thumbs up.

Disney does a wonderful job of gently mocking its own "princess in love" type movies, yet in an engaging way.

Great little story. I think even guys who despise "chick flicks" would get a kick out of it. :)

My wife and I just got home from the movie. I have to say that I liked what the movie had to say its just not my style.

Whenever I see a musical where people are singing while walking down the street I look behind them and look for the band playing behind them.

Relationships are a difficult combination of rational plannign and emotional love. Musicals while walking through central park are just not my style.

I am not sure I have a style but I do know this isn't one.

that being said you naznet men need to man up and take your significant others to the movie. She will think your wonderful:basic05

So, uh, this is a musical, huh? Saw a preview a time or two, but didn't realize it was a musical; didn't pay much attention, actually, so if they highlighted a musical part, I didn't notice (they probably didn't, tho, did they? ;))

So, it must've been pretty good, & Nanette really liked it, for you to say this, huh? 'Might just like it, then, if it's a musical & it gets this sort of review from you.

There were musical eliments to it but it wasn't primarily a musical.

The previews told me it was a spoof of fairy tails. It didn't turn out that way at all.

Well, maybe not fairy tales we are familiar with, but the concept of "princess & prince charming," perhaps? Or, wasn't it that way at all?

The whole musical scene in the park was part of the delightful mocking of the genre.

It was over the top...and that's why I loved it.

Yes...yes...yes...that's it exactly.

Take every cliche from every disney movie of that genre and put it smack dab in the middle of New York City.

This movie was a riot.

It wasn't a musical, anymore than any other Disney animated movie is a musical. It's just a movie with a few songs thrown in.

I think my baseline understanding of fairy tales is limited to begin with. For me a fairy tale is tackling Tom Brady for a 10 yard loss to win the Superbowl. It may never happen but if I close my eyes and wish hard enough then I know it will. I just know it will.:basic05

Wasn't this Dorothy wishing her way back to Kansas? If you alluding to something other than that, please do tell us. :basic05

I was just making fun of myself for being uninformed in the world of Disney ?Stories. Nothing more than that.

But you did manage to find something---even if accidentally---that we've heard somewhere ... in some story ... where they "close their eyes really tight ..." et cetera. :basic05

I give it five star and two thumbs up.

I took my teenaged daughters and they got a kick out of it. As they were small when Disney animation sort of "peaked" in the early 1990's, I saw glimpses of a lot of Disney's later stuff in there.

Was it worth $8 bucks a pop at the theater? Nope. Is it worth renting when it comes out next summer? Sure.

For entertainment value, I give it 3-1/2 stars and one thumb up.

If you've got daughters, it's a 5-star, two-thumber.

And don't let the women fool you, guys. They could care less about the plot or the music or anything else. They just want to see Patrick Dempsey. My almost 18-year old assures me this is true.

Who cares about Patrick Dempsey? I wanted the toilet cleaning rodents in my life! :)

I thought it was a fun movie. Definately worth the $7.50 a seat we paid. It left me smiling and sometimes we really need a movie that does that. It was Disney poking fun at the Disney Princess movies. Nothing was really intended to be taken seriously.

I've been thinking about this final statement. I would respectfully suggest that very few women will sit through just any old movie, just because the actor is good looking.

A good movie is a good movie. If the actors are easy on the eyes that's a bonus but I sure don't pick a movie, simply because the lead male is handsome.

I don't like the character that Patrick Dempsey plays on Grey's Anatomy. So his presence in this movie was actually one of the things I considered a drawback.

My wife and I rented this tonight.

I have had 2 people recommend it to me. The first was my secretary. She said it included a lot of spoof-like material regarding other Disney Fairy Tales and was a hilarious comedy. The second was my son's girlfriend (they attend TNU). She did not mention it being a comedy in any fashion or that it played off of past Disney classic tales. After watching it I guess I know why ... I suspect some of those fairy tales had come and gone long before she was born.

My thoughts:
1. It was a fun and funny movie. It would be worth watching again just to pick up more innuendos referring to former fairy tales.
2. The acting by the girl who player Giselle was incredible (IMHO). The way she pulled off innocence throughout the movie was impressive.
3. I thought the way the movie filled out everyone's concept of love was pretty good. Some learned to appreciate and embrace the warm fuzzy ("romantic") side and others learned that love was more than that.
4. I found Giselle's smile (and lack thereof) to be interesting. In the first 2/3 or so of the movie she smiled a lot. Then, she quit smiling. I think the reason was that she discovered love has a painful side. In the final scene she's smiling again. I thought this was pretty subtle but quite effective.
5. I liked the way it moved from animation to real life and back to animation. That was pretty clever. In fact, although somewhat predictable (maybe intentionally so) I thought the writing and plot for it was also pretty clever. I am easily impressed. :)
6. When the film was over my wife was smiling ... me too I suspect. That's always a good way to end "movie night."

I absolutely love this movie. It is my absolute favorite! I blogged about the fact that they completely captured who I am in Giselle's character (I don't look like her ;) but her spirit, her attitude). Everyone who knows me just laughs and laughs and came and told me that it was SO me *giggle*. In fact, if anyone ever doesn't know how to take something I write, just imagine her saying it.

I love the parade scene and I cried when Robert danced *and sang* with her.

And don't let the women fool you, guys. They could care less about the plot or the music or anything else. They just want to see Patrick Dempsey. MyWell, my husband knew this going into it :D He is one of my favorite characters on Grey's (the character has a lot in common with my husband--not behavior, but I was rewatching the episode where he went into all his likes and dislikes and my husband was watching along and said, "NO WONDER you like him--He IS me!" :) and I happen to have a lot of respect for this man who is AP'ing twins at the same time we are :) Plus, young and current pictures of him have finally gotten me to convince my husband to grow out his hair (his hair is exactly the same texture/style) and now I smile when I see my hubby's hair instead of it being something I accept about the man I love *giggle*

Finally got around to renting and watching Enchanted. I really enjoyed it. I must be honest -- I had no idea who Patrick Dempsey was, so his presence in the film had no influence on me.

It was just entertaining -- how refreshing is that in this day and age? And Timothy Spall (Harry Potter, Sweeney Todd) played a character unlike any other role I've seen him in. What a change!

All in all, a good video to rent.

There's not a male movie star that I would walk across the street to see!!! Now, I like movies, and if the male star is a good actor, that's fine. But as far as being a FAN of any of them -- NOT!!!

(And I've never even seen Grey's Anatomy!)

(edit: We DID, however, go to Barns & Noble to buy Mike Farrell's book and meet him -- but that was more for LINDSEY.......just thought I'd clarify that!!! And it definitely didn't have anything to do with sex appeal!!! LOL)
