One of our church members works at the local World Relief Office. They are the refugee resettlement arm of the National Association of Evangelicals of which the Church of the Nazarene is a member. Jerry invited me to come to their evening service for newly-arrived refugees from Myanmar, formerly Burma. These folks were either Chin or Karin. They spoke a different language, but sang songs that we all sing and had thier own speakers. One of those who is a speaker has Nazarene background and some Nazarene biblical education. I met him and it was a blessing to see the smile and spark in his eye as we met. He barely speaks any english, and it's pretty cold here at 27 today.
We were able to have Thanksgiving Dinner with 2 students from Korea. They attend the University of Idaho with my wife's niece. They were Christians, and I showed them the Korean Nazarene University's website while we visited. We played a game of scrabble to enhance their english-speaking capabilities. It was an international week for us last week for sure.
