Sky photos of and near London

Taking off from Heathrow to Glasgow, I was about to shut my eyes because of the overnight flight to London from Boston, but the day was clear and I remembered a TV program that showed an airplane from the grounds of Windsor Castle. So, I shook myself awake and sure enough, there it was below me. I snapped only a couple of photos because the plane is still low and the ground is moving past pretty quickly. This one is cropped (cutting out the plane window) and enhanced (instant fix), but as clear a picture of Windsor Castle from the sky as one can hope for.

This set of photos was taken on the return trip from Glasgow to London, circling the city before coming in for a landing.

1. The first one shows a crooked view of "The Eye" and across the bridge to the left you can see Big Ben's tower, and at the upper center in the distance is Buckingham Palace.

2. This is a really nice wide shot of London with the Eye in the lower left corner.

3. This is a cropped picture of Buckingham Palace.

Thank you very much for this outstanding photo! From looking at it, one would never even suspect that such a horrible fire had sought to totally destroy this historic place in 1992. The castle and gardens are beautiful and Windsor Castle is the oldest continuously occupied castle in the world. Report about the fire and restoration can be seen at:
