Christmas photo yet to be taken

We are planning on taking a family photo around the Christmas tree and probably a few others in front of the fireplace and out on my parents deck.

What should we wear?? Especially for the photo taken in front of the Christmas tree.

It's been the trend for families to all wear the same color top and pants (I've seen lots of tan pants and red tops during portraits this year). In "big" extended family shots I've seen the different families wear different color tops for each family group... it makes it easy in later years to distinguish the different family units...

Casual also is the big trend... I don't remember seeing a tie at all so far...

Remember to make it fun and memorable for everyone and your pictures will turn out much better... if you're including small kids (under 4) try to take the picture before they're tired and done interacting for the day.
