Heisman Trophy winner, who is not only an outstanding football player but is the son of evangelical missionaries and has a sister and brother in law who are currently missionaries in Southeast Asia.

Jim, I think he might have even hinted at his faith during his acceptance speech -- like maybe 10 times! I think one person said it best on the ESPN team, he is a great ambassador for the NCAA -- and for Christ!!

Except his teammates all think he's a dork because he has trouble carrying on a conversation and never hangs out with anyone, but the coaches. Perhaps that's just him being a Sophomore? We expect a lot out of some pretty young guys sometimes.

Where did you hear that Ryan? I had not heard that about him.

I don't doubt some of it is overstated. It was a reporter reporting on conversations with teammates. I chalk it up more to a sophomore having to deal with intense media pressure than anything else.

Does the reporter have a name?

I read a report today on CitizenLink that Tebow was almost aborted because his mother had contracted some illness in the Philippines and the doctors told her that he night be malformed or mentally afflicted but she stuck by her faith and said "No" to abortion and she proved the doctors wrong. Praise the Lord for her strong faith.

Somebody on CBS. It was just crappy banter at the end of some blowout game about three or four weeks ago. The point was that his teammates love him, even if he fits the stereotype of the home schooled kid (which means they don't really understand him). And there's nothing wrong with that.

From what I heard from people at his high school, he did not really fit what I would call the stereotypical home-schooled kid. But, I guess some reporter got 3 seconds of air time to share his insights. Understandable that people are envious of him.

Tebow played at Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, Florida. They compete tomorrow for their second state 4A championship in three years -- their first state title coming Tebow's senior season. Just tidbits about he state of Florida football.
