I haven't had time to go out and take many pictures. There is a lot of tree damage and many thousands are without power. I live 2 blocks from the power plant so there are less wires between me and there to get knocked down. In spite of the damage, it is really beautiful. I get off work at midnight and the streets with a lot of trees and bushes are like a crystal wonderland under the street lights. I wish I had time to take more pictures. Right now the roads are in good shape the sidewalks are solid ice.

Joel........

It's so nice of you to want us to come spend some time at your house.

However, I think I'm going to have to decline this time.

Maybe next time.

At least we don't have much snow. I talked to a cousin in Wisconsin last weekend. They live on a farm in southern Wisconsin. They have 14 inches of snow with a 1 inch layer of ice in the middle and ice under it all. They couldn't clear it with the tractor. They had to go out and bust up the ice with sledge hammers first.

I prayed for the Merrills this morning as I usually do on Thursdays. Foixs on Wednesdays and Powells on Fridays. Part of my prayer list is split up in alphabetical order and that is just how it breaks down for you and your families, Joel.

Are those Pella windows in your house?

Joel,

Being close to Lake Michigan saved us again... we got mostly rain this last storm. It melted much of the snow covering the ground here. Of course there's plenty of time once winter actually arrives!

Thank you, Jim. The Powell's could use some prayer right now. They don't make much money since Donny is still in college. (He has two semesters left) LeAnne has missed some work lately because she couldn't get a baby sitter and because of the weather. They have some minor trouble with both cars but I should be able to fix that. They have some huge oak trees in their yard that are very brittle. Last March a big limb fell through the hatch on Donny's work car. Last week a limb fell and put a big dent in their good car. Another big limb just missed their bedroom window. The neighbor tried to hire a tree service to take out one of the trees but the city said it belonged to the city and he couldn't do it. In my mind, the city should be liable for damage caused by that tree but they're not.

The big picture window in the front of my house is an old original. I would like to take it out. All of the others are Pella Windows.

Here are a few pictures I took today. It is a couple degrees above freezing so they are thawing some.

Very pretty pics, thank for sharing. We had a good ice storm in 2002, about 2 inches of ice and we were out of power for 8 days. We had our share of ice the past week and a good snow storm coming in tomorrow afternoon/evening. At this point, looks like we will get around 6 inches of snow which is more than we are used to(at least all at once) around here, but it sure is a lot of fun. :basic01

In case you couldn't tell, I'm studying(sp?) to be a meteorologist, so this kind of weather is fun for me(although I love the spring storms too). :basic07

Thanks for your kind words, Terri. I miss you too. I'm mostly just back because I've been keeping up with Brad. I have many friends here. Unfortunately there are also a few obnoxious people here that sour the mix. I am also shocked by what some people believe. I keep forgetting that I am not a Nazarene anymore and I don't feel like I belong here like I used to.

nothing shocks me anymore lol

your spirit and your faith are a great comfort to many even if you don't know it. As you know, several people disagreed vehemently (well maybe not the right word) with Brad but he continued to discuss and mostly with humor diffused alot of the obnoxiousness...I'd like to see you do the same. You have lots to share, so keep sharing.

I miss Brad, and I need someone else to pick on (hint hint)

love ya,
Terri

Yes, as Terri said re needing someone to "pick on" ... 'been said before, but will repeat: "I only pick on those I like; the rest I just ignore." :basic05

Joel, I just had to change that heading! BRRRRRRRR!!

They told us how-many days ago that we wouldn't see 30's (so stuck in the 20's-teens) until Tuesday or Wednesday.

NOW, we're not only expecting 4-8" overnight, but tomorrow's wind up to 40mph is what really sounds horrible. That wind that cuts right thru ya! This is torturous, to say the least ... seriously, I've not a whole lot of use for this type of weather, tho' I know some just love it!

You know, Brad and I didn't always agree. I don't expect people to always agree. The ones who do are either not very smart or not very honest. But Brad agreed much of the time and disagreed with respect. There are people who seem to come here just to stir things up and be nasty. I don't have time for people like that.
