and all reports are they did it the right way.

Rich Rodriguez will take over as head football coach replacing Lloyd Carr. This last month has been tough on the U of M but all reports indicate that Michigan went about the search the right way and the bungling which seemed to take place had more to do with the coaching prospects. It's still a business I wouldn't want any part of I think.

As a Maize and Blue fan, I'm pleased with the selection and look forward to football at the Big House in the future.

Many folks in the central and western US may not know much about RR. Sorry for the assumption on my part.

Some RR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_Rodriguez) stuff here.

Possible replacement for Rodriquez at WVU -- Terry Bowden's name will start coming up soon.

Rodriguez made out like a bandit. He passed up a lot of money from Alabama last year, for even more money this year in a situation that will have much more patience for him than anyone down south. As an interested viewer who often finds himself rooting for Michigan, this is a good choice for the program.

I thought "their man" was Les Miles, but he wouldn't leave LSU. It looks more like they got "their #2 man"

I think Rodriguez will go a good job for Michigan, but I'll never be convinced he was their first choice.

I'd take Rich Rodriguez over Les Miles any day of the year. The Big Ten has proven time and again that they have no idea how to defend the shotgun spread. Michigan usually has a top-notch defense (which Miles would all but guarantee), but they've only won when they've opened up the offense.

As an Ohio State fan, I will miss Mr. Carr.......

Does anyone here know how many big games RR has won at WVU?

It also seems that he never has a defense.

However, he may turn things up at UM.

My cousin down in WVA was upset that another Mountaineer coach went to Michigan, but I reminded her that they did get Hugs.

Here in southern PA, West Virginia gets almost as much press as Penn State. In yesterday's paper, the governor of West Virginia has weighed in, saying he doesn't care if Rodriguez left, so long as Michigan pays the $4 million buyout in the new contract that Rodriguez just signed a year ago.
