Hi all,
I just wanted to introduce myself properly before I go about posting here and there. I'm not sure what all I'm supposed to say in an intro, so I'll just tell you a couple of things about me.
1) I'm married to a great guy and have two lovely young children,
2) I'm new to the CoN (but the more I learn, the more I praise God for knowing me so well and putting me in just the right place) and DH and I are members of Lake Houston CoN.
3) I'm just getting started on my course of study so that I can (maybe, eventually, someday, as the Lord leads, possibly) be ordained,
and
4) I was crushed by the news of Brad Mercer's death, which is what made me decide to stop being a lurker and officially let people know I'm here (and maybe actually take part in conversation as well!).
I look forward to getting to know you all better! :)

Welcome to NazNet. Hopefully, Linda and I will get to meet you when we vist Lake Houston next month. We are planning to be there for the big celebration to dedicate your new building and to celebrate the 20th year since we helped plant LHCN.

That will be great! I can't wait for you to see it--it's been about 3 or 4 Sundays now and I can't believe how HUGE it is in there!

Welcome!! My husband is a charter member of LHCN and we will be at the big celebration in January as well.
He was in that church as a teen, then went off to the military. We returned to LHCN in 1996 and moved away in 2003. It's a wonderful church.

DH and I are members of Lake Houston CoN.
I went to your church's website and saw the pics of your new building. It looks fantastic. Congratulations for being a visionary and courageous congregation.

I also just visited your web site and see that Freddy Wright is your worship pastor. He is a special person. Please tell him that I said hello.

Genevieve & Andrea ... isn't this where Carmen & Sam [Harrison] are? Anyway, welcome, Genevieve! ;)
[for a short while I was in Friendswood, so became familiar with the Houston area ... but that was about 20 years ago now]

No. Gina. Carmen & Sam live and worship on the opposite side of Houston. Perhaps you are confused because we also went to church with Sam and Carmen at Houston Spring Branch, now "Living Word".
Linda and I were charter memebers of the Lake Houston Church the first time we lived in Houston. When we moved to Houston for the second time, we lived on the opposite side of town. We tried driving for a few months, but it was just too far.

Well, I have to confess to y'all that I'm not a Texan- I'm a California girl... I just happen to live here now. :q) I'm getting used to it, though.
I'm not sure I'll ever get used to the giant, jurassic sized cockroaches, though. They are truly nasty.
As for our church, I really do love it. We have the best church family I've ever been blessed to be a part of. :cs01

You've already picked up the most important part of Texan dialect - the proper use of the word "y'all".

I am so with you girl! I have never seen such huge roaches in my life. And around Texas everybody gets a couple of them in their homes no matter how sanitary their house is!
I was raised in So. Cal. I've lived in San Diego, Oceanside, and various places in the 'O.C.' Very much a military brat.
Don't know if you know W. McAlister at LHCN but I am her sister in law.

Faith did tell me you were W's sister-in-law - it's a small world here on Naznet!
I was born and raised in SoCal too - DH and I both went to college in San Diego, got married there, etc. (he was in the Navy). I miss CA a lot, but I'm glad we're here and that's just as well since we sure as heck couldn't afford to live there anyway! :p

Genevieve,
Welcome to Naznet. If you have been lurking for awhile you've gotten the feel of the place so that will help. Hopefully you will be around for a long time and help us continue to develop this as a place of love, grace and fellowship. Thanks for jumping in.
